Still Thinking About Your Halloween Costume? Get Inspired by These Idols!

We know there is a big chance you’ll rock the upcoming Halloween parties as a Squid Game character, but just in case stores run out of green and red jumpsuits or you want to try something else, we have some costume ideas for you. These are some of the most memorable Halloween looks from your favorite K-Pop Idols — because you know they are pretty creative when it comes to concepts, and this time of the year is no exception. K-Pop fans are always blessed with themed performances and spooky broadcasts, and we can’t wait to see what they are preparing for us this year! Until then, here are some ideas if you still haven’t decided on your costume.

Key Is the Uncrowned King of K-Pop Halloween

SM Entertainment takes Halloween pretty seriously each year with their annual costume party, but they have a particular artist who always aims for the winning costume. Key never does anything half-heartedly and it shows in his costumes each year. Some of our favorites are his Marge Simpson, Edward Scissorhands, and Voldemort moments. Of course, we can’t forget about the Ronald McDonald costume, which created a meme that everyone knows on the internet, regardless of being a K-Pop fan or not.

Make it Simple and DIY

We admit, creating Key’s looks will probably require some time and assistance, so if you are looking for something that is doable even at the last minute, BTS member Jin’s pumpkin look could be a great start. Stores probably never run out of pumpkin costumes this season, or you could also try to DIY it, making the experience more fun and last longer! Invite over a few friends, order some pumpkin spice lattes, and just craft your creativity away! Double the fun of Halloween parties. Or, if you like playing around with makeup, a creepy face painting is always a good solution. A dramatic skeleton like SEVENTEEN member The8’s Jack Skellington or NCT member Chenle’s Pennywise look can turn the sweetest facets into terrifying enough for Halloween.

Straight out of an Animation

Your favorite animated movie can always serve as an inspiration. If neither green or red are your colors, how about a little blue? Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung as Sadness is a great example. Yeah, Inside Out might not be the newest animation, but it’s still a great and relatable one! And a little less bloody than Squid Game. Or how about Frozen? Super Junior’s Heechul somehow managed to turn into the perfect Anna and Elsa as well. He could literally play any of the characters!

Harry Potter

There might be a debate between generations about Harry Potter, but it’s still something many of us, and many of our favorite idols, grew up with, and it’s here to stay until we have a say in it. We can’t argue that TWICE would probably be the coolest girl click at Hogwarts, but we also wouldn’t mind seeing a Halloween special remake with SEVENTEEN’s Seokmin as Harry Potter and Stray Kids’s Hyunjin as Draco Malfoy.

Sailor Moon in the name of Y2K

Sailor Moon is definitely living its renaissance, so why not cosplay as one of the Sailor Scouts and save the solar system along with MOMOLAND’s Ahin? No anime screams Y2K more than Sailor Moon, but this trend definitely doesn’t stop here. You could also get some cool cosplay ideas from the recent Y2K-inspired comebacks and the movies and shows they are referring to.

Everyone’s Favorite, Harley Quinn

No matter how many people tried dressing like Harley Quinn, no one can get enough of her! That includes K-Pop idols as well. Some of our favorites were PRISTIN’s Kyulkyung, MAMAMOO’s Hwasa, and Sana from TWICE. But this look is not limited to any gender either. ATEEZs Yeosang or Stray Kids’s IN are a great example for that, and SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan is probably the prettiest version of Harley Quinn ever seen.

Disney Princess

If you run out of ideas, Disney princesses are always there. We can’t forget the moment Red Velvet’s Yeri and NCT’s Taeil both showed up to SM Entertainment’s Halloween party as Belle, and I’m sure many people still look back at the BTS video where Kim Taehyung cosplays Snow White along with his six dwarfs. We are still wondering who is the seventh though. Bang Sihyuk? But villains are also very much loved—especially around this time of year. TWICE’s Tzuyu and soloist Sunmi both turned into stunning Maleficents.

Turning Into a K-Pop Idol

Or why not just transform into your favorite K-Pop idol? What is your favorite concept of theirs? Watch that music video or performances to get inspired and get to creating your K-Pop Halloween look! If you want to keep the theme spooky, just use a little fake blood here and there and you’ll make even your favorite soft boy/soft girl concepts worthy of the holiday. You can also look straight into some of the Halloween concepts; vampires inspired by MONSTA X, a look from ATEEZ’s "THE BLACK CAT NERO" cover, or any of the zombie music videos out there.

G-DRAGON’s look in BIGBANG’s “Fantastic Baby” or this look from TAEMIN’s “Advice” would definitely turn heads, staying stylish but looking a bit spooky. Perfect! We have only one piece of advice for the latter—pun pretty much intended— recreate the body painting on a nude sweater because even if you are in a heated area, it is still the end of October...
