A Story About Coco Jennie

After currently being the face of CHANEL's Coco Neige 2021/22 campaign, Jennie just announced in an Instagram post that she will be the face of the luxury brand’s Coco Crush jewelry line as well. The BLACKPINK artist has been called the “Human Chanel” by her fans, and an industry personality gave her the nickname “Coco Jennie” — all for a reason. Jennie blends the classic chicness of CHANEL with a trendy, more contemporary style that represents the true effortless millennial approach. This eases the luxury that often seems unreachable, which matches well with the French fashion house’s current creative director, Virginie Viard’s modern take on the brand.

BLACKPINK members have been known for their luxurious, yet youthful fashion sense since their debut, and today Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo all work closely with French fashion houses. The first of which was the partnership discussed in this article. Jennie got the “Human Chanel” nickname from her fans because she was always well-known for rocking the double C logo in her everyday life. Her casual, streetwear, and sometimes even airport fashion looks make the brand seem more approachable, cool, and charismatic for the younger audience who otherwise would hardly opt for a classic tweed jacket as their must-have fashion item. But mixing in a little baseball cap, beanie, baggy jeans, crop-tops, or even sportswear...and now we are talking. Her image helped the brand become trendy and cool again (following in the steps of her labelmate G-DRAGON).

After her love for CHANEL, Jennie became the model and brand ambassador for Chanel Beauty in Korea, and she did her first editorial with the brand for Harper's Bazaar Korea in 2018. This led to front row seats at Paris Fashion Week, several more CHANEL-filled Instagram posts, and stage performances for the singer, and even a rare chance to visit Coco Chanel’s former home.

In March 2019, CHANEL officially announced Jennie as their global ambassador, and their powerful collaboration has been growing ever since. As mentioned at the beginning, Jennie is currently the face of the Coco Neige campaign that has been photographed by two of the biggest names in the industry, Inez & Vinoodh. The collection fades winter sports and masculinity into something feminine, elegant, and luxurious. Who would have thought that ski suits can be this cute?

While this campaign is currently running, Jennie already hinted at an upcoming project with CHANEL. In the black and white portrait on her Instagram, she showcases her next step as a global ambassador: becoming the face for the Coco Crush fine jewelry line. In a W Korea editorial, Jennie previously mentioned her love for accessories. She thinks of them as must-have items to complete and fully express a look — and we couldn’t agree more!

We can’t wait to see more of this campaign and just overall Jennie showing off her immaculate style that even Coco Chanel would have fallen for within just seconds.
