League of Legends and K-Pop
With League Of Legends’s (LoL) first animated show, Arcane, debuting on Netflix this week, let us take a look back at when LoL collided with the world of K-Pop.
“RISE (Remix)” - Mako, The Word Alive, The Glitch Mob, and BOBBY
The 2018 LoL theme song “RISE” was performed by a mix of EDM and metalcore artists. However, the remix features BOBBY of iKON. The rapper not only lent a verse to the remix, but is also credited as a producer. The remix was performed live by the artists at the 2018 opening ceremony. Watch the performance below.
“Take Over” - Jeremy McKinnon, MAX, and Henry Lau
For the ten-year anniversary of the games, LoL recruited American metal artist Jeremy McKinnon (of A Day To Remember), popstar MAX, and former Super Junior member Henry Lau for the song “Take Over.” Henry takes over the third verse of the song, performing in Mandarin. The song was an ode to the past winners and LoL’s biggest and most recognizable name, Lee Sanghyeok, also known as Faker. Watch the cinematic music video below!
“I’LL SHOW YOU” - TWICE, Annika Wells, and Bekuh BOOM
Along with (G)I-DLE's Soyeon and Miyeon, TWICE has also lent their voices to LoL's virtual pop group K/DA. Appearing on the virtual group's mini-album All Out, "I'LL SHOW YOU" was performed by members Nayeon, Jihyo, Sana, and Chaeyoung. K-Pop hitmaker Bekuh BOOM was also featured on the self-love anthem. “Runner” - DJ Raiden ft. Baekhyun & Changmo
Released as a congratulatory song for the South Korean LoL team, T1, "Runner" was a collaboration between DJ Raiden, rapper Changmo, and EXO member Baekhyun.
