JAKE $ING Doesn’t Want to be “LET DOWN.”
Rising artist JAKE $ING has unleashed his first ever EP! Titled Ups & Downs, JAKE $ING brings a colorful, upbeat, and moody album to jam out to, from beginning to end.
Taking the helm comes “LET DOWN,” which is a song about how hopes have been raised, only to cast doubt and be let down. Especially when it comes to being let down by the person who is considered a loved one. Nothing is more disappointing than being let down by someone who you think is important and not receiving an apology for it. JAKE $ING describes just wanting to be loved and falling for the facade of a nice mask and gestures when it was all fake and divisive. In the end, it’s just a let down and unfortunate that it has to come to either walking away or accepting the reality of it all. “LET DOWN” is a funky track that has indie-pop elements. It is catchy and upbeat despite it’s sad tone and lyrics, the type of earworm that just gets stuck in your head and finds you singing along to it.
The music video follows JAKE $ING as he is ready to celebrate his birthday, only to be let down when no one comes through to celebrate with him. A series of unfortunate events follow him, like the cake falling to the ground, the drinks going bad, and locking his keys inside his car. All things just let him down further and further. It isn’t until he rescues a goldfish that becomes a constant in his life. Giving him a reason to be happy, to go out and be alive again, his goldfish is a reminder that despite things going bad, there is always something good on the other side. At least he knows that his goldfish will be by his side. But at the very end, when he least expects it, his friends arrive at his home to help him celebrate his birthday, proving that while there are some people who can be a let down, there will always be others to come through and be there through thick and thin.
