ATEEZ Releases “야간비행 (Turbulence)” Video Ahead of ZERO : FEVER EPILOGUE

A week before the release of the finale to ATEEZ’s FEVER series, the group released the music video for title track “야간비행 (Turbulence).” The announcement of the video’s release was a shock to ATINY, as the boy group has consistently released their title track videos alongside their albums. The promotion map shared to the group’s official Twitter and Instagram accounts shows question marks for December 2 at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. as well as December 3 at 6 p.m. KST, but further down the map shows two music video teasers scheduled for social media posting on December 8 and December 9 at 12 a.m. KST, leading some to speculate that ATEEZ will have two title track music videos again.

“야간비행 (Turbulence)” is three minutes and 23 seconds of minor angst (excluding the KQ Entertainment opening video package that’s included before every ATEEZ release). The track itself is a completely different vibe than what we’ve seen from ATEEZ in the past, choosing to go with a ballad with a rock twist and typical ATEEZ flair for their title track. It’s not your typical ballad, it has enough build-up and upbeat moments to keep your attention, but it’s definitely not the ATEEZ title track you’re expecting, especially following tracks “Deja Vu” and “Eternal Sunshine.” The sentiments seen within the lyrics are usually something reserved for an ATEEZ B-side, but it’s refreshing to see them choose to instead give it the title track treatment. Personally speaking, it hits a little too close to home at times; the lyrics resonate with people of all ages and are wildly appropriate as we come into a time when more and more people start to be affected by seasonal depression.

The music video plays off of these concepts as well, with ATEEZ all handling life separately. There’s no choreography, no scenes where ATEEZ are all together, it’s just very straightforward. While the lyrics may seem bleak at first, there’s still that hint of hopefulness that ATEEZ always imbue their tracks written for ATINY with, and it honestly feels like a warm hug. It’s nice to feel seen, to know that you’re not alone with whatever you’re going through, and the way that ATEEZ always comes through for their fans to remind them of that is one of the best things about the group.

ATEEZ will continue to release concept photos, the track list, more music video teasers, and the album within the next week. It’s fun to see all of the various graduation photos, perhaps hinting at how ATEEZ have finally graduated from the rookie phase of their career, so make sure to keep an eye out and watch the music video for “야간비행 (Turbulence)” below!
