CRAVITY Stuns with HIDEOUT: BE OUR VOICE - SEASON 3
Starship Entertainment’s newest boy group is back again with the third installment to their HIDEOUT series. Despite being only officially debuted for less than a year, CRAVITY has successfully released three albums, all showcasing that the nine-member boy group is a force to be reckoned with and to be on the lookout for in the future. Titled HIDEOUT: BE OUR VOICE - SEASON 3, CRAVITY brings a total of seven brand new tracks for listeners to enjoy from beginning to end.

1. My Turn
Taking the helm as lead single for the album, “My Turn” is an addictive dance track that kicks off the new year with an upbeat and catchy start. From the implementation of different drum beats and cowbells to the easy-to-follow chorus of the members chanting “vroom,” CRAVITY will have heads turning to their attention with this song. “My Turn” oozes with swagger and confidence as the boys know that it’s their turn to shine as they race to the top of the game. As the song progresses, there is a solid balance between the vocal and rap members, with each getting his own chance to shine in the song. “My Turn” is rough-around-the-edges but has a slight cheekiness that almost challenges one to get on their level. One thing for certain with “My Turn” is that CRAVITY is here and not going to stop at anything. As the song suggests, it’s their turn to shine.
The music video for “My Turn” is monochromatic black and white with a heavy emphasis on the color red that is sure to capture the viewer’s eye. Whether it be the high-class sports cars or the accents of red or white within the wardrobe, there’s always something new to see, making for an exhilarating and dynamic video. While there is no specific plot involved in the music video, the video places high emphasis on choreography along with focusing on the members themselves. What many should take note of is as the music video features sports cars and luxury motorcycles, CRAVITY incorporates the choreographic move of revving an engine at the repetitive “vroom vroom vroom” chorus.
2. Call my name
Slowing things down a notch, “Call my name” is an R&B ballad centered around the aftermath of a breakup, particularly the stage of grief and longing. “My Turn” shows confidence from the boy group, whereas “Call my name” is much more vulnerable and sad. The act of calling out their names is described in the song, as they long to hear their lovers speak or call out for them once more. Although the relationship is over in reality, dreams and memory are where the relationship still lives on and the calling out of their name still gives them life and reason to continue on as they have expressed that they were the one. “Call my name” infuses R&B and synthesizer to create the dark mood that gives the song that somber and melancholy feeling of heartbreak. As one of the only slow songs off the album, it surely does not disappoint in showing off another side of these young men.
3. Mammoth
When a mammoth comes to mind, one may think of the large, furry, prehistoric animal that walked during the Ice Age. However, “Mammoth” is all about the large scale, unstoppable confidence that CRAVITY exudes. Like the mammal, when they walk into the room, CRAVITY knows they command attention and thrive off the intense energy. The scale of their confidence is on par to the actual animal itself—big and monstrous. One section that resonates from the song is Allen’s opening rap that mentions the haters have nothing on them, and like a beast (such as a mammoth), they are going to stomp them out and won’t be fazed.
4. Bad Habits
Continuing with the more hard-hitting, edgy sound and style, “Bad Habits” embodies the bad boy type of vibe. This particular track emphasizes more of an unhinged version of the group with a little more bite. “Bad Habits” is centered around a more rebellious phase as the nine-member group transitions into young adulthood. There is an underlying theme of being misunderstood, which leads to the bad habits of lashing out and rebelling. The song itself leans heavily into the hip-hop realm of sound and style, thanks to the bass and beats laced throughout the song. As one of the darker sounding tracks from the album, it is a solid track that expresses a different tone and voice from the boy group.
5. Moonlight
If “Call my name” is the designated breakup song from the album, “Moonlight” is the song that is about the chase and desire of having a crush or loving someone. “Moonlight” expresses when the moon is shining upon them at night, feelings become intensified and they can’t stop themselves from falling further. Like a werewolf, they transform into a different person who is overtaken with strong emotion. “Moonlight” declares how they yearn for the person whom they are interested in and how they hope that the feelings are reciprocated. The rush of emotions expressed in the song is further enhanced by the pop and electro-influenced beats that give it that high-energy feeling. “Moonlight” is a song that picks up the album again on a lighter note.
6. Dangerous
For those who are looking for another upbeat dance track from CRAVITY, “Dangerous” is the go-to track that will get your blood pumping and listeners moving along. “Dangerous” falls into the realm of falling deeply in love. In a way, they become trapped by just one glance and know that they’re done for. “Dangerous” perfectly describes how this crush is to them. This crush may be dangerous, yet they can’t help but give in while being perfectly aware of it. Although the meaning and emotion behind the song are a bit extreme, “Dangerous” is addictive and catchy; it is sure to be a fan-favorite B-side from the album.
7. Give me your love
Last but certainly not least, “Give me your love” wraps up the album with a soft ballad that is fused with a mix of R&B and acoustics. There is a refreshing innocence with this particular track as it describes the feeling of wanting to be loved and appreciated. No matter the age, “Give me your love” is a song that many can empathize with and relate to. There is no shame in wanting to be loved and asking for it. “Give me your love” could also be interpreted as the dedicated LUVITY (the group’s fandom name) theme song of this particular album. It’s a love song to their fans as they hope to be appreciated and loved by them, and in return continue making music and giving back to fans with their work.
As CRAVITY continues to grow, this rookie group shows much promise for the future. HIDEOUT: BE OUR VOICE - SEASON 3 does not disappoint, and we’re curious to see if CRAVITY will continue with another installment of the HIDEOUT series or what they will come out with next time. CRAVITY kicks the year off strong with a solid album worth listening to over and over again.
