PENTAGON Stars in a Webtoon in New MV for “DO or NOT”

PENTAGON has released their eleventh mini-album, LOVE or TAKE, supported by the rock-influenced title track “DO or NOT.” The comeback is heavily inspired by webtoons which have grown immensely popular in the past few years with many being turned into successful dramas. The mini-album consists of seven new songs including the ballad “소년감성 (Boy’s Feelings),” performed by member Hui who recently enlisted in the military, becoming the first member of the group to do so.

The lead single “DO or NOT” was co-written by members Hui and Wooseok. The song’s lyrics mesh well with the webtoon concept of the EP as the boys hope to charm the “female lead” of their story. In terms of sound, PENTAGON opts for a pop-rock sound for the release, reminiscent of songs by Korean bands like DAY6 and The Rose. The concept of LOVE or TAKE stands in stark contrast from their comebacks in 2020 which saw PENTAGON in a much darker light, and the music video for the song is just as bright and fun. The video follows the boys as male leads, portraying the different tropes seen in webtoons and dramas.

The highlights among the album's B-sides include “Baby I Love You,” “1+1,” and “That’s Me.” Lyrically, the album allows the PENTAGON members to share different aspects of love as seen in webtoons. From a confident expression of affection to shy and soft love songs, the album showcases different sounds while remaining bright and colorful. The final track “소년감성 (Boy’s Feelings)”, also known as “Boy In Time,” is a special song in the album as it is member Hui’s self-written, self-composed solo track. The beautiful piano ballad sees Hui share his experience with what it feels like to be all grown up, especially as he is now enlisted in the military.

With the new album, PENTAGON shows maturity as a group while remaining true to their colorful origins. Check out the music video for “DO or NOT” below!
