“After School”

Once school ends, it’s the girls’ time to let loose and have fun but also the time where they can meet up with their significant other. “After School” is the time where they can really be themselves and not have to stress. The track expresses the excitement of going on a date and getting to end the day on a good note. It’s when they get on their skateboards that they feel more free and empowered to conquer the rest of the day. “After School” is a bubblegum pop song, with a feel-good and addictive beat. It’s a guaranteed spring-time staple that is going to be a playlist favorite for fans.

Stepping away from their signature school girl concept that fans were introduced to, the Weeekly girls are seen in more casual settings, sporting streetwear and baggier clothing. However, “After School” still has that cute essence that makes this girl group so adorable and hard to resist. Aside from the bright colors that are displayed throughout the music video, what really catches the eyes of viewers is the choreography, where Weeekly has incorporated the kick push movement of actually being on a skateboard within the music video. The music also has elements of fantasy as once school ends, they are transported into a realm of fun and joy that depicts the feelings of whenever they are meeting with their significant other, they can’t help but feel out of this world.

“After School” is such a treat for fans through and through and as this girl group continues to rise, fans can hardly wait to see what Weeekly has in store for the future. For those who are looking for a light-hearted and upbeat album, We Play is one that you should not pass up on.
