It doesn’t have the same ring to it, but you can still feel the excitement of getting fresh new dramas when bringing in a new month. May brings a mix of thrillers, period dramas, and comedy, so check out the list and see which drama you want to watch in May.
Imitation
Imitation is adapted from a popular webtoon and stars ATEEZ member Jeong Yunho. His character, Lee Yoojin, has promised to protect Lee Maha (Jeong Jisoo), who is starring in a drama with his friend, Kwon Ryok. Ryok has a strong dislike of Maha due to a mishap that happened during a sports competition. Will Ryok’s hate evolve into love? Or will Maha fall for Yoojin? This drama also features SF9 member Chani as Lee Eunjo and T-ARA’s Park Jiyeon as La Rima.
Imitation starts on May 7 and will be available to watch on Viki.
Doom at Your Service
Hard-working Tak Dongkyung (Park Boyoung) seems to have a stable life while working as a webtoon editor, but her life is turned upside down when she’s diagnosed with brain cancer. Filled with rage, Dongkyung wishes that everything disappears. This statement alerts Myeol Mang (Seo Inguk), the liaison between gods and humans, who creates a contract that allows Dongkyung to live however she wants for 100 days. What happens when her time is up? Will she die peacefully or choose another path?
Doom at Your Service premieres on May 10 and can is available on Viki.
Move to Heaven
What happens to a person’s things when they die? A cleaning service might be called to dispose of your items respectfully. In Move to Heaven, Geu Roo (Tang Junsang) works with his father in such a company. One day his father dies, and Geu Roo’s uncle comes to take over the business. Sang Koo (Lee Jehoon) is a cold and difficult man to live with, and finds it challenging to get along with Geu Roo because Geu Roo has Asperger’s. Through the series, Sang Koo and Geu Roo learn to live and work together and help the families of the deceased.
Move to Heaven starts on May 13 and will be available on Netflix.
My Roommate is a Gumiho
In the newest installment of gumiho dramas, My Roommate is a Gumiho stars Jang Kiyoung as Shin Wooyeo. He’s a 999-year-old gumiho that spends his days as a college professor and has collected human energy in his quest to become human again. One night, an incident occurs which causes college student Lee Dam (Lee Hyeri) to swallow the bead Wooyeo uses to keep the human energy he’s harvested. If the bead isn’t removed within a year, Lee Dam will die, and Wooyeo will never become human. They decide to move in together to figure out how to get the bead back.
While there is no information on which site will air My Roommate is a Gumiho at present, the drama will start on May 26.
Bossam: Stealing Fate
Bossam is a procedure where a widow is kidnapped to remarry. In this period drama, Ba Woo (Jung Ilwoo) makes money by gambling, fighting, and performing bossam. One night, he accidentally kidnaps Princess Soo Kyung (Kwon Yuri). She is married for a political agreement, but her husband mysteriously dies on the day of her wedding. Ba Woo will have to figure out a way to fix his mistake without getting caught by the palace soldiers. While working with the princess, he realizes that not everything is what it seems behind the palace walls.
Bossam: Stealing Fate starts on May 1.
Mine
If the ending of Penthouse left you wanting more, Mine might be just what the doctor ordered. Seo Heesoo (Lee Boyoung) and Jung Seohyun (Kim Seohyung) have married the same chaebol family. Heesoo, who was once a top actress, does her best to fit in as a proper daughter-in-law. She and Seohyun appear to be confident, but behind closed doors, viewers will see that sometimes having money doesn’t give a person happiness. The women’s repressed desires may spill over their carefully created walls and cause trouble for the whole family.
Mine begins on May 8.
