Throwback Thursday: Lights, Camera, Action!
This week, our throwbacks are all about the movies! From upbeat to seductive, K-Pop has given us a variety of movie-inspired songs to enjoy.
“Movie” - JUNNY
JUNNY’s “Movie” really shows off the more R&B style of his vocals through this cheerful song. It’s chill yet upbeat, and makes you feel as though you are the main character in your own film. The soft lofi visuals for the music video feature a projector landscape with JUNNY singing in front of it, and although it’s quite simple, it really ties together the warmth that this song conveys to the listener.
“Movie Star” - CIX
CIX’s debut song “Movie Star” brings you into a more seductive side of a movie star, as it starts off with member Bae Jinyoung’s whispering voice to draw you into this smooth song. The aesthetic of this video uses mostly black and white, adding bright pops of color and backgrounds to really help the members stand out, and the added sexy choreography can’t help but to entrance you throughout the video.
“Movie” - BTOB
BTOB’s “Movie” was written and produced by former member Ilhoon, and this groovy song takes you on a fun ride. The instrumentation has a funk-pop sound, with lowkey piano and guitar riffs to build to something dramatic and exciting for the very catchy chorus. The music video for “Movie” brings out this fun as the hilarious personalities of BTOB really shine through, and Ilhoon’s iconic red-haired Joker look at the beginning of the music video is truly unforgettable.
