August Dramas to Wrap Up Summer

August is the time for people to gear up and head back to school and work, but don’t worry! There’s still one more month where fans can relax in the sun and binge dramas. This month’s dramas span from horror to romance to melodrama. Which drama are you looking forward to the most? Let us know!

The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim

The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim is technically a July drama, but since it doesn’t start airing until the end of the month, it’s essential to add it here. Go Dooshim (Kim Saeron) is an 18-year-old student who is trying to live a regular life. But, unfortunately, fate has a different idea for her. Dooshim is destined to be a shaman.

Na Woosoo’s (Nam Dareum) world is turned upside-down when Dooshim enters his life. He used to be a student that didn’t have to try hard to do well in all aspects of his life, yet once Dooshim arrives, he begins to see evil spirits, so he decides to help her solve strange cases that involve what he sees.

The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim isn’t scheduled on any streaming services yet, but fingers crossed fans will be able to watch it soon.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Yoon Hyejin (Shin Minah) is a dentist who has her life upended when her choices cause her to move. Once she arrives at the Gongjin seashore village, she meets Hong Dushik (Kim Sunho). The villagers call him Chief Hong even though he seems to be just the local handyman. His kind spirit and willingness to help others attract Hyejin. Will Dushik have the tools to help Hyejin fix her heart?

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha will be available at the end of August to watch on Netflix.

Ha Songyi (Bang Minah) usually has a bubbly personality and is fun to be around, but all that changes when her boyfriend, Park Dogyeom (Kwon Hwawoon), breaks up with her. While trying to recover from her broken heart, Songyi discovers that she and Dogyeom have won a couple’s trip from a contest they had previously entered. Not wanting to pass up a free trip, they decide to pretend that they are still a couple and go.

Their guide for the trip is writer Seo Jikang (An Wooyeon). He enjoys observing people who are on vacation and uses their interactions to write his essays. While interacting with the fake couple, he begins to develop feelings for Songyi. Will she reciprocate his feelings, or will Songyi ask Dogyeom for another chance?

Check Out the Event is scheduled to be four episodes long and will air on August 14.

Police University

Yoo Dongman (Cha Taehyun) has spent 20 years as a top-notch detective in different departments, from cyber investigations to violent crimes. He’s now a professor at the Police University, teaching the future of the police department. The first-year students include Kang Sunho (Jung Jinyoung), a hacker trying to stay out of trouble, and Oh Kanghee (Krystal), a smart woman whose goal is to be the best police officer. Will Dongman have what it takes to transform these first-year students into official members of the police force?

Police University will be available to watch on Viki and Kocowa.

The Road: Tragedy of One

Everyone thinks Anchorman Baek Soohyun (Ji Jinhee) is a caring, respectable man. People turn to him for the truth during his broadcasts, but nothing could be further from the truth. He is a cold-hearted man that stops at nothing to get what he wants. He’s married to Seo Eunsoo (Yoon Seah), whose father is the Jegang Group’s chairman. Her father has connections to many political high rollers, people that Soohyun also wants to be close to, and one step to his goal was to marry Eunsoo. She knows the type of man she married, but she does her best to portray the perfect life for the sake of her children and family.

Information on where fans can watch The Road: Tragedy of One isn’t available yet, but the drama starts on August 4.
