Even if you are not yet familiar with Ryan Jhun’s name, you definitely know his work. He’s been a renowned producer and songwriter in the K-Pop industry since 2010, working with big acts such as SHINee, EXO, Red Velvet, IU, Super Junior, f(x), TVXQ, MONSTA X, Oh My Girl, and LOONA. Plus, his own label, A Team Entertainment, houses the boy group loved by many international fans, VAV.

Yes, Ryan Jhun’s portfolio is filled with SM Entertainment artists, so it should be no surprise that “Maniac” isn't the first time the producer and NCT have worked together. He worked on NCT Dream’s “My First and Last” and “Boom,” NCT 127’s “Kick It” and “Punch,” and WayV’s “After Midnight,” “Electric Hearts,” and their latest hit “Kick Back.”

“Maniac,” sung by NCT’s Doyoung and Haechan, is the first part of the producer’s project, MAXIS by RYAN JHUN, which is accompanied by the motto, “KEEP MUSIC ALIVE.” The groovy track definitely feels very alive, upbeat, and energetic, while it still manages to remain chill with its slower dance genre. It’s a very well-balanced song with the perfect harmony of Doyoung’s deeper, mature vocals and Haechan’s honey-like unique vocals. Their voices together on this type of track is a combination that’s pleasing to the ears.

“Maniac” is a love confession, accepting the other one just the way they are. Neither Doyoung nor Haechan show up in the music video; instead, it features the famous dancer and choreographer Lia Kim, who makes the video complete even without the members. Looking gorgeous, her amazing moves match the song’s mood perfectly and will have you mesmerized and longing to join Lia Kim on her dance floor.

Being an NCTzen might be a bit (positively) overwhelming nowadays with the back-to-back comebacks and releases, but we still have a lot to anticipate for this year. While waiting for the upcoming projects and the next part of MAXIS by RYAN JHUN, check out the “Maniac” music video down below.
