Best iScreaM Remixes
Established in 2016, ScreaM Records is SM Entertainment’s EDM sub-label. The label is designed to promote EDM music through collaborations with EDM artists and producers in South Korea and abroad. In 2020, ScreaM Records began releasing iScreaM Remixes of popular SM releases. Let’s take a look at some of the best remixes released under the project.
“놀이 (Naughty)” by Red Velvet - IRENE & SEULGI (Demicat Remix)
The indie DJ Demicat based in Seoul, South Korea turned Red Velvet - IRENE & SEULGI’s smooth R&B B-side “놀이 (Naughty)” into an R&B club banger. With an extended instrumental post-chorus, the remix is a perfect song to dance all night to in a neon-tinted club.
“Next Level” by aespa (IMLAY Remix)
Remixed by ScreaM Records signee IMLAY, the “Next Level” remix is a dreamy track that flows like a soundtrack to an intergalactic adventure video game. IMLAY’s future house style matches aespa’s futuristic concept as they travel to Kwangya.
“영웅 (英雄; Kick It)” by NCT 127 (Hitchhiker Remix)
Quite possibly the most famous Korean EDM artist, Hitchhiker has worked on various SM songs. Known for his psychedelic and chaotic production, Hitchhiker was the perfect DJ to remix NCT 127’s 2020 hit “영웅 (英雄; Kick It),” which was also labeled as a noise-pop song. The remix amps up the track’s energy, making it even more impactful.
“Criminal” by TAEMIN (Minit Remix)
The K-Hip-Hop producer Minit turned TAEMIN’s synthwave hit “Criminal” into an EDM club banger with an intense post-chorus drop. While most iScreaM Remixes are accompanied by interesting visualizers, the accompanying visual for Minit’s remix of “Criminal” is especially psychedelic and presents the lyrical concept more vividly.
“1 Billion Views” by EXO-SC ft. Moon Sujin (Mar Vista Remix)
Up and coming young DJ Mar Vista remixed EXO-SC’s disco-pop track “1 Billion Views” ft. Moon Sujin. The DJ turned this simple TikTok jam into a house-inspired disco anthem. The new production paired well with Chanyeol and Sehun’s vocals, especially the post-chorus “ooh-ooh-ooh” amplifying the track’s addictive nature.
