Mark Tuan Gets Emotional in “My Life”

Marking his first release of 2022, Mark Tuan has returned with an emotional piano ballad, titled “My Life.” With each release, we’ve gotten to see a new side of Mark that we have not quite seen before. Not shy to show a darker and vulnerable side to him, “My Life” expresses a somber and lost tone. While his prior release of “Last Breath” was filled with anger and frustration, “My Life” brings the realization of living and doing things for another and forgetting to live for himself.

“My Life” describes how Mark gives and gives but nothing is returned. It’s all just a facade that he puts on, while in reality he’s not happy and is just a shell of himself. Sometimes after a repeated cycle, you tend to lose yourself and forget to think about your own needs. The music video is rather minimal, focusing on Mark among darker backdrops. Towards the end of the video, Mark is then doused in white paint, which is symbolic of a sense of release and freedom from the things that have been holding him back. It also serves as a symbol of taking back his life for himself.
