Lee Youngji’s Chaotic Nothing Much Prepared Show Brings Out The Most Authentic Interviews

In a recent interview with Jin of BTS, high praise came about as Jin stated that Youngji’s show is basically the BTS of YouTube as he was well aware of the show without watching much of it. The Nothing Much Prepared channel has 2.03 million subscribers and continues to grow. What makes this talk show stand out in an industry that has mass-produced shows to showcase celebrities? It’s all in the freshness of chaos. Youngji presents herself as she is; silly, wild, and loud—the young hostess is unapologetically herself. She encourages her guests to feel comfortable, bringing out drinks and snacks, making it feel like a genuine outing with a friend.
Celebrities come on the show to promote their projects, but because there truly is no script or many prepared questions, everything flows naturally. Between drinking games and small talk, viewers feel as if they are there in real time. With the true feeling of being comfortable, celebrities seem to let their guard down. Jin, who is known for being a very shy person, explained that he feels very awkward in social situations: “Most people don’t want to be friends because they feel pressure.”

When Youngji asked if the girls were dating anyone, Chaeyoung admitted that she’s never been asked out. Nayeon chimed in with her experience: “People often feel pressured after hearing the name of our group. They don’t even try to know us.”
Youngji inspires transparency in most of her interviews. She wears little to no makeup and sets the tone in her comfortable clothes. As a rapper herself, the people she interviews are her peers. She doesn’t often ask questions that feel invasive; instead she volunteers information about herself, causing her guests to feel comfortable enough to match her energy. Her mood is always high and vibrant, and there is no trace of ulterior motives. In an interview with Hyungwon from MONSTA X, he says, “This is my first time talking this much with someone I just met for the first time.”
Watching celebrities drink and discuss nonsense topics is endearing. Seeing our favorite artists feel comfortable in an interview is refreshing and probably the reason Youngji’s show bodes so well with fans all over the world. Youngji’s young and charming personality is refreshing to see, and her lack of direction in her show being the main point of it is something that isn’t replicated anywhere else, setting her apart from everyone.
