Best of KARA
It's been quite a year for girl groups in 2022. From impactful debuts to surprise reunions, the ladies have been killing the game. However, one of the best things to witness as a longtime fan is the return of your favorite groups that disbanded years ago. One group in particular has reunited a generation of fans to their earliest memories in K-Pop.
Second generation legends KARA are back for a special album release and comeback to celebrate the group's fifteenth anniversary. With their latest album dropping on November 29, KARA is releasing four new songs including their title track, "When I Move." Members Park Gyuri, Han Seungyeon, Nicole Jung, Kang Jiyoung, and Heo Youngji return for KARA's comeback. The only former members that will be absent are Kim Sunghee, who left the group early into their debut, and the late Goo Hara who unfortunately passed away in 2019. With tons of excitement online for KARA's forthcoming return, their new song will be performed for the first time at the 2022 Mnet Asian Music Awards!
To prepare for KARA's long-awaited comeback, let's take a look back at some of their greatest hits!
"Mamma Mia"
You'd be lying if you said you've never heard this song before, as this is one of KARA's most well-known songs from their discography. This song has aged like fine wine and will bring everyone on their feet to dance along to the highly memorable choreography.
"STEP"
This was THE neon moment of the second generation that was all the rage. It was absolutely one of my personal favorite songs when I discovered KARA. It's a feel good anthem that demands everyone to get on the dancefloor and have a great time!
"Damaged Lady"
There's nothing more healing than a track with high notes to uplift you. The effortless vocals, charming visuals, discarding their dresses for suits — where do I begin? KARA has never stopped making their fans swoon from their talents.
"Honey"
This song played such a huge part in several fans' teenage years. It was a lovely and appealing track that warmed your heart. Even though it can be difficult to watch some of KARA's music videos after the passing of Goo Hara, it's a reminder that she's always in our hearts and has a space set for her in KARA forever.
"Mr."
This song paved the way for the dynamic choreographies in K-Pop that we have today. Everyone wanted the tiny tee, baggy pants, and suspender look to be just like them. Unfortunately, the music video isn't available to watch at the moment, but there are tons of music show performances uploaded on YouTube to still get your fix.
"Lupin"
It is hard to replicate such an iconic hit like "Lupin." It offers a look into what the early girl crush era in K-Pop looked like. I know we all wish we could go back in time to hear "Lupin" for the first time.
