That being said, he might not be known as the fashionista of the group—to a point where even members are joking around about his fashion while he’s casually holding a daesang. But he certainly knows what he is doing. Notice how he’s been coordinating his Instagram feed lately? He is clearly looking at the bigger picture. His profile is filled with the perfect boyfriend shots, so we are predicting that this “IG boy” will be hitting 10 million followers on the platform pretty soon.

His personal style captured on his Instagram, vlogs, and—the very much missed—airport fashion shots are constantly radiating energy just as calm, pure, and casual as he seems to be, with each of his outfits being on-brand for him. A little bit dandy, a little bit effortless, but always very detail-oriented with colors and layers, no matter the occasion. His chef’s kiss visuals, of course, help him pull off many different styles, but he is most often seen going for that captivating college boyfriend aesthetic sprinkled with some preppy classiness. Like honestly, not many people can pull off a classic collared polo shirt the way he does.

He definitely radiates a different energy in a sexy all-black look, but we love a good soft moment on him with pastel colors, beiges, and browns. His secret seems to lie in looking smart while staying comfy and layering. Any casual shirt can be turned into a great outfit with the right knit cardigan, plaid shirt, denim jacket, or the mix of any of these.

Well, of course, it’s a completely different topic when he is on schedule, turning into a charismatic supermodel on stage, a Swedish count from the 18th Century for a musical, or a vampire for a NCT 127 comeback, but those also work for him. Last year he got to further prove his versatility in style through various magazine pictorials. These tend to keep his clean image in one way while proving his full potential as a high fashion fashionista.

After fan reactions, the “Kim Brothers’” chemistry seemed to impress fashion editors as well, as Doyoung appeared in photoshoots alongside Jungwoo multiple times in 2021, including Cosmopolitan Korea’s March issue, the Star1 Magazine cover for its July issue—which showed a very refreshing, playful, yet somehow still mature side of the members—and the weekly Japanese women's lifestyle paper, ANAN Magazine, by Yuta’s side.

These are only a few of his fashion magazine appearances, but another two favorites we can’t skip are his works with W Korea. For their May issue, Doyoung posed alongside his older brother, actor Gongmyung. While this spread focused on their relationship, it also showed off how well the brothers can rock any high fashion look wearing iconic brands like Alexander McQueen. His other W Korea moment was alongside his NCT 127 members just before their Sticker album promotions kicked off last fall. For this pictorial and short fashion film, he turned into one of CELINE’s knights.

Brands I Would Love to See Doyoung Working With

Converse

I haven’t noticed him wearing his Converses lately off-schedule, so I might be just speaking out my own desires here, but hear me out. The brand’s authentic casual sneakers could complete or even transform his effortlessly sleek style while keeping comfort in mind. I can see many subtle street-style Instagram pictures coming out of this collaboration. And this is coming from someone who has worked for Converse’s PR team for years, just several thousands of kilometers away, otherwise I would have personally been the one to pursue him to become an official ambassador.

Polo Ralph Lauren

Now, this just has to move to the next level. Polo Ralph Lauren is definitely no stranger to Doyoung or anyone who’s been following his style evolution. This specific line of designer works with tailored clothing inspired by sportswear while keeping the brand’s initial high-end casual/semi-formal style with classic, sometimes even nostalgic, designs. The timeless look of these designs with their preppiness definitely fits into the image Doyoung portrays. We can see him wearing this brand pretty often from vlogs, his Instagram, and in airport moments. In one of NCT’s 24hr RELAY CAM episodes, he even shows off a cardigan he has never worn before (at the time of the filming) because it’s that precious to him. So we are hoping it’s only a matter of time until the designer discovers the potential Doyoung has and the power this collaboration could mean for his brand.

CELINE

This is a plus one where I would like Doyoung’s BFF to step in for a little “DoTae” moment. Continuing the W Korea “Nine Knights” story last fall, I would love to explore this side of Doyoung while Taeyong could also continue building his ever-growing relationship with the French luxury fashion house. CELINE has been quite popular among K-Pop idols lately, so why not make “DoTae” the next ones showing off their complementing styles and visuals in a dedicated editorial or even a campaign for the brand?
