Suran’s Sultry New Single, “Devils in the City”
K-R&B songstress Suran is back with her newest single, “Devils in the City.” Featuring rapper Dok2, the release is the latest to follow her previous singles “Blanket” and “Sunny” under her new—and self-launched—label, S-TASY.
The all-English track is about the dark sides of society. Suran, who partook in both the writing and production alongside Dok2 and producer Zayson, further stated the song is one that came to be after overcoming her own inner struggles. Futuristic synths form the core of the song, setting a mystical atmosphere that Suran’s unique, raspy vocals fit only too flawlessly. Dok2 enters in the second verse and stays on the melodic side of rap while still adding a bit of a bite to the song.
The video for “Devils in the City” paints Suran in neon hues of blue and purple as she sings atop the landing pad on a skyscraper. She sports sleek and sexy looks, with dazzling makeup and nails, and a ponytail that could put even Ariana Grande to shame. An official lyric video rather than an actual music video, it displays the lyrics at the bottom of the screen and keeps the cinematography simple, allowing fans to focus on Suran’s equally lovely visual and voice.
The release also includes the instrumental version of “Devils in the City,” which is just as whimsical as the full song and does a perfect job at creating the fantasy Suran set out to design with S-TASY.
