Sorn Showcases the Dangers of Love in “Sharp Objects”
Since leaving Cube Entertainment and starting her solo career, “Sharp Objects” marks Sorn’s first release at her new label, WILD Entertainment. The CLC member has found success on social media, most notably her TikTok and Instagram accounts. Building those channels has led to more interest for her latest song, and as a result, many were interested to see what direction the soloist would take now free of her previous label.
“Sharp Objects” is an electro-pop all-English track with a driving beat that gives off a retro ‘80s vibe in the melody. The beat is catchy and addicting, and the added influences of synths popular in the ‘80s adds a tinge of nostalgia to the track as well. It’s a classic route to go with in terms of melody and influence, and if you’ve been exhausted by the experimental noise music coming out recently (like I definitely have), it’s a refreshing return to the classics. There’s no denying Sorn’s vocal talent either, which definitely carries the song.
The concept in the video is rather interesting. We see Sorn adorned in a dark aesthetic, complete with black lipstick and a black leather top. The use of mannequins instead of actual humans seems to be an artistic statement, especially in the club layout setting. There’s even a little bit of humor injected when she zeroes in on a particular mannequin and begins to flirt with it, which seemed to charm a lot of her fans. The settings and use of strobe lights definitely fits the feel of the song.
