The Sibling Duo: AKMU

AKMU, or Akdong Musician, debuted in 2014. This brother-sister duo consists of Chanhyuk and Suhyun. Their lovely unique voices paired with their self-produced music create such a great hit and have made them distinct in the K-Pop industry. For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we will be taking a look at some of AKMU’s songs that prove  these siblings can take any style and embrace it as their own.

“200%”

“200%” is airy and innocent, making it an adorable yet addictive song. Suhyun’s lovely voice really carries throughout the whole song and adds that distinct style we love hearing from AKMU. The music video has us following Suhyun on her journey of unrequited love and is quite entertaining as she tries to follow around her crush. The movie-style music video really makes you reminisce about your own first experiences with love.

“GIVE LOVE”

“GIVE LOVE” is another happy, feel-good song, and the acoustic guitar line paired with the bongo drums adds to that breezy and upbeat sound. The music video for “GIVE LOVE” brings us a continuation of the unrequited love story from “200%.”

“HOW PEOPLE MOVE”

“HOW PEOPLE MOVE” is a quirky delight, with its bouncy beat and jazzy influence, making it such a fun listen. The music video is full of bright colors and features a toy store, hallways with plenty of doors, and a bright pink endless staircases.

“DINOSAUR”

AKMU took a different approach with “DINOSAUR,” giving us a summery sound with this EDM song. It brought a fresh sound to their style as they did not hide their vocals behind the instrumentation and hit you with that nostalgia of summer fun when you were little. The music video brings that idea to life, making this new style for them feel so effortless.

What is a song you can’t get enough of by AKMU?
