PIXY Talks Favorite Songs and More at Otakon 2022

Taking the title of the third K-Pop act at Otakon, PIXY made their first trip to U.S. soil. Lola, Dia, Dajeong, SuA, and Satbyeol sat down with The Kraze and our media colleagues for an exclusive interview to talk about their experiences in the U.S., their favorite tracks, and what song of theirs fits best in an anime. 

Note: This interview was conducted before Satbyeol left the group and was translated live during the interview.

Q: PIXY recently chose to take a different route musically. What other genres of music would you like to experiment with? 

SuA: I want to try some kind of really conceptual horror performance and music style that could really fit well in a Halloween festival.

Satbyeol: Most of our songs have a very dark concept and we have to be really powerful, but I want to try something [where we] could smile, be sweet…like a slow song.

Q: Is there an artist or other producer that you would like to collaborate with?

A: Personally, we think there’s [many], [but] (G)I-DLE [is a group] we really want to collaborate with.

**Q: Out of all your songs so far, which one would you pick to be an outro or intro to an anime?

Dajeong: “Wings,” our debut song, [has] an intro whisper part, a magic spell from the witch, so maybe our music itself could be background music for a certain anime with a dark fantasy concept.

Dia: When I think about anime, I just feel [a] rock sound [fits], I don’t know why. So [our] song called “Swan Song” has a really cool rocking sound. So whether an intro or outro, it could really suit [an anime].

Q: What is your favorite song off of your own discography?

S: Before it was “Wings,” our debut song, but recently it changed to our new song, “Natural.”

DJ: I love “Wings” because it explained all our epic [lore].

SB: “Still With Me” because it was our first fan song and it means a lot to me.

Lola: Also “Still With Me” because all the lyrics actually are what we’re trying to say.

D: “Villain,” because before that song our music was dark and powerful, but with this we can show our other styles and shake [it] up.

Q: If you had to swap identities for a day with one of the members, who would it be?

L: For me, Dajeong. Her personality is at the opposite end [of the spectrum] from me so I want to be her.

DJ: Lola because I'm not the person who takes care of my friends in detail, but Lola does, so I want to be her.

D: Satbyeol. We are also at the opposite end and she’s really cute. She’s so nice and kind. I can’t even imagine my appearance and Satbyeol’s personality, does it match? I’m really curious.

S: Satbyeol because she is so cute, she’s like an angel.

SB: So difficult! I want to be Dia. I’m not really a good talker but Dia can talk really well and at the same time she expresses her emotions really easily.
