Like most OMEGA X title tracks, “JUNK FOOD” opens with their rapper Hangyeom. The focus quickly shifts to maknae Yechan, then to Hyuk, followed by Kevin; all within the first 30 seconds of the song. This fast paced nature allows for all 11 members to have their own time to shine. Many fans picked up on the group's change regarding line distribution, and found that “JUNK FOOD” is the first time all members have been given almost an equal amount of lines and screen time.
The video itself is filled with eye-catching VFX, swift camera movements, and powerful visuals. The dark color scheme and leather outfits differ from their last Korean music video “PLAY DUMB”; a pop track with a playful and colorful video. Although the group tends to have dark concepts, “JUNK FOOD” stands out as a title track and music video unlike the group has ever had before.
OMEGA X starts the album off strong with two electronic tracks, “LOUDER” and title track “JUNK FOOD”. The third track slows it down as OMEGA X takes a vocal heavy approach for the song “Touch”. The lyrics, co-written by leader Jaehan, describes the power of relying on and desiring someone. Keeping the tone light, OMEGA X sings about taking the listener to Neverland in “HEY!”. The song serves as a promise to their fans, FOR X, that they will always be there with them. Co-written by Xen, Jaehan, Junghoon and Hangyeom, the track is cheerful and comforting as they repeat “We’ll always be with you” from the first to last line. The final song “ISLAND”, which all 11 members took part in writing, is one that has been anticipated since its preview at their anniversary fan meeting back in June. Much like “HEY!”, the song is filled with promises of being together indefinitely.
The EP iykyk is available on all major streaming platforms and is sure to be performed at their upcoming U.S. and Mexico tour Keep Goin’ which kicks off on November 24 in Jersey City.
