Throwback Thursday: November Debuts Edition
We are now in the month of November, so you know what that means — November debuts! Yes, every month, we take it back and talk about the growth of some of our favorite K-Pop groups. Seeing the progression of our faves brings a smile to many of our faces. So, let’s do a throwback and talk about the debuts of these iconic groups.
VICTON - “I’m fine” & “What time is it now?”
VICTON, an IST Entertainment boy group, had their debut on November 9, 2016. Their first track, “I’m fine,” was released on November 9, and many of us have been streaming this track ever since. VICTON came into the scene with a fun retro-inspired banger, and the video and stages prove how entertaining this song is. Their second debut track, “What time is it now?” is a B-side off the same album that they promoted at the same time as “I’m fine.” They released a performance trailer on November 4, 2016, and that gave a taste of what was to come. It was a great debut that we will all remember as years past.
K/DA - “POP/STARS”
Now I know we all remember this banger being released. K/DA is a virtual girl group from the hit game League of Legends. There are four members total in the group. Ahri is voiced by (G)I-DLE member Miyeon, Evelynn is voiced by pop singers Madison Beer and Bea Miller. Kai’sa is voiced by singers Jaria Burns and Wolftyla, and Akali is voiced by another (G)I-DLE member Soyeon. These girls came onto the scene with this track and showed us something new that we hadn’t seen in K-Pop. It will always be on our brains because this track is really well-known. These girls came through and ate with this one.
STAYC - “SO BAD”
STAYC GIRLS IT’S GOING DOWN! Of course, we're gonna talk about our STAYC girls. This has to be one of the most iconic debuts we have ever seen. STAYC, a HIGHUP ENTERTAINMENT girl group, made their debut on November 12, 2020, with their hit track “SO BAD.” Many of us love this song. It’s an upbeat, fun, and quirky song that we all know the lyrics to. These girls have been on a roll ever since their debut and we love to see the growth of the girls as time passes.
aespa - “Black Mamba”
When I tell y’all we were obsessed with this song when it was released, I mean it. aespa, an SM Entertainment girl group, made their well-known debut on November 17, 2020. Their hit track, “Black Mamba,” took to the screen that day and shook our worlds. “Black Mamba” not only became a hit, it was a song/dance we were all learning. There are plenty of covers out there that show the love we have for this track. The video is bright but has a dark storyline added to it. Hearing this song live changed lives, and I would love to see it again. These girls came through and ate this debut up. We will always love this song, no matter the time.
ENHYPEN - “Given-Taken”
During the year 2020, it was just back-to-back amazing debuts. ENHYPEN is one of those groups. On November 30, 2020, HYBE debuted its newest boy group, ENHYPEN. Their mystical concept, exceptional singing, dancing, and storytelling put this song on the list of top-tier debut tracks. ENHYPEN has been releasing amazing hits ever since and has definitely made a name for themselves in the world of K-Pop. These boys are only going to go higher as time passes, and we all can’t wait to see what they have planned for the future.
