BE’O Makes An Ode to Fans with Latest Single “Akita”
As spring steadily approaches us, BE’O returned on February 16 with his latest single “Akita'' featuring hartts and produced by OBSN, a song which depicts wanting to bring someone. This digital single serves as a polished version of a Soundcloud track with the same title, released years prior to BE’O’s popularity.
From the single cover to the lyrics, the track depicts the feeling of moving along with the seasons; however, the person still feels like winter to them. Their aura still has reminiscences of snow and coldness, almost as if she’s frozen in time as he enters spring. The feeling of longing is present with both BE’O and hartts from beginning to end, the want to be in somebody’s presence and the persistence of wanting to go back in time to be with them is felt.
In place of dropping a music video at the same time as the song, BE’O chose to promote “Akita” on 1theK Live’s RE:@LIVE series, where he was able to perform many of his popular tracks back to back.
Through RE:@LIVE, BE’O is able to appeal to those who know him through all walks of his career, and he got to finish with “Akita” which could have been at the beginning or end depending on how you got to know BE’O.
BE’O first started gaining popularity following his appearance on the Korean hip-hop program Show Me The Money, where he performed his song “Counting Stars,” quickly gaining the attention of both domestic and international audiences. From there, he gained a loyal fanbase, earning him the chance to perform for larger audiences.
“Akita” being released in 2023 feels like an ode to not only the fans who waited patiently for its complete form, but to BE’O himself. Having to revisit a track that was originally created without knowing what your future held must’ve been more sentimental to him than us – almost as if he has accepted his success and is stepping into his own spring.
“Akita” is available now on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
