K-Pop Idols Rumored to Attend the 2023 Met Gala
This year’s Met Gala event will take place on May 1, and we are excited to see who will be attending and the different ways each guest will embody this year’s theme. While last year’s theme was gilded glamor, where guests embraced renditions of the evolution of American style, the 2023 Met Gala will showcase the theme “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” in honor of renowned designer and creative director Karl Lagerfeld. With the rise of K-Pop idols embarking on their journeys within luxury fashion, netizens have been speculating whether they will see any of their favorite idols making their red carpet debut, or in Rosé’s case, make a red carpet comeback. Last year we saw Johnny Suh of NCT make his memorable red carpet debut at the Met Gala, and in 2021, South Korean rapper and former 2NE1 member CL became one of the first female K-Pop artists, alongside Rosé, to attend the Met Gala.
Read below for more information on what we know about the upcoming event so far and which idols are speculated to be on the exclusive invite list for the 2023 Met Gala.

This year’s Met Gala will showcase an exclusive exhibition featuring over 150 pieces of Karl Lagerfield’s work alongside his sketches for the pieces. Karl Lagerfeld was a prominent figure within the fashion industry as a designer and creative director who worked with renowned luxury fashion groups including Chanel, Balmain, Chloé, and more.
K-Pop Idols Who May Attend The 2023 Met Gala
BLACKPINK’s Rosé and Jennie
It’s expected that Rosé might make an appearance at this year’s Met Gala as Yves Saint Laurent’s Global Ambassador alongside her fellow BLACKPINK member Jennie, who was appointed as Chanel’s Global Ambassador last year.
In 2020, Rosé was announced as Yves Saint Laurent’s first Global Ambassador in 59 years, and in 2021 made her red carpet debut at the Met Gala. Dressed in YSL’s ready-to-wear collection, Rosé became one of the first female idols to attend the anticipated event, and fans were awed by the star's simple yet stylish appearance. Attending the event alongside YSL’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello, Rosé stepped onto the red carpet in a little black dress (from the YSL Winter 2021 collection) adorned with a white asymmetrical bow, accessorized with glimmering silver earrings, an ornate choker, and black patent heels.
Fans are hoping to see Rosé return to the red carpet and Jennie make her red carpet debut dressed in Chanel attire.
BTS’s RM and Jimin
Another duo speculated to make an appearance at the prestigious event is RM and Jimin of BTS. RM and Jimin have been venturing into the world of luxury fashion through their partnerships with prevalent luxury brands. Jimin was appointed as Dior’s Global Ambassador and luxury jewelry label Tiffany & Co’s House Ambassador, while RM is Bottega Veneta’s Global Ambassador. Fans hope to see either member make their Met Gala debut this year, gracing the red carpets dressed in their respective brands.
