What is THUG CLUB?
THUG CLUB has been making its way through the streetwear scene, solidifying their space through its hip-hop and grunge influences. The luxury streetwear brand co-founded by Min and Kwon has become a staple among millennials and Gen-Z exploring self-identity and challenging the norms set upon them.
The brand’s take on self-representation exudes an air of confidence — anybody who is bold enough can wear THUG CLUB. From jeans to bags and jackets to boxers, the brand explores the different ways customized fashion can be designed and how far they can go in regard to not caring about societal norms.
THUG CLUB TO THE WORLD
Some of THUG CLUB’s most notable clientele consists of American R&B artist SZA, K-Hip-Hop artist Sik-K, global star CL, and many more.
Sik-K and HAON were both seen wearing the brand’s signature SMD boxers during their Pop A Lot tour. This came after Sik-K was shown to be modeling THUG CLUB’s Cave Down jacket and vest.
One person who has been repping THUG CLUB regularly in the UK is Instagram user VOR3CLI, also known as Angel. Angel’s style encapsulates the brand’s grunge and hip-hop influences, sporting all black and silver outfits with a range of silhouettes, and topping off her outfits with her signature hat plus goggles or hat plus headphones combination. Angel’s support for the brand doesn't go unnoticed by THUG CLUB, becoming somewhat of an internet friend to them.
Q. What was it about THUG CLUB that initially drew you in?
Angel: For me, I would say that it was THUG CLUB’s push to the youth, and how they strived to create a beautiful community of carefree youngsters who dress and do as they please without caring about societal pressures, something I’m also a strong advocate of, that drew me in!
Q. One of the co-owners, Min, is known for his social media presence. Do you think he has influenced you in any way?
Angel: Min is quite similar to me personality wise, and I’ve had the chance to meet him while the duo were in London, and we vibed really well! He’s never afraid to say what he’s thinking and shares everything with his followers. I think the influence on me would just be learning to not care what people think of you, do you and have fun doing it!
Q: How do you think their hip-hop and grunge influences reflect in their items?
Angel: Both Kwon and Min really love motorcycles and Seoul’s Itaewon scene, known for its appreciation of music and fashion. Their clothes often have emblems in metal within their pieces and have fully embraced zipper pulls on their items. It really helps to identify the brand’s signature look.
Q: Who would you like to see in THUG CLUB?
Angel: I think I would love to see Destroy Lonely in their brand!
Q: What is your favorite item of theirs that you own or want to own?
Angel: My favorite item has gotta be the SMD boxers! They’re like a staple piece for me. I like the bold statement of wearing them; it serves as a reminder for me to not care (about what other people think) once again! This Dragon Messenger bag is what I need!
