Jungkook’s Sexy Summer Single
Eight months after the release of “Dreamers,” Jungkook of BTS is back with his official solo debut. The track is yet another English single, but this time with a more mature vibe. “Seven” was released on July 14 and features American rapper Latto. It’s Jungkook’s first time trying his hand at the UK garage genre, which has become increasingly popular in K-Pop. As expected from the golden maknae himself, the new single is a certified summer hit. However, the lyrics may be shocking upon first listen. To put it candidly, “Seven” is a song about sex. While this could be surprising to some, Jungkook’s brand ambassadorship with Calvin Klein and his shirtless teaser photos certainly hinted that he was headed in this direction. At 25 years old, and with 10 years in the industry under his belt, the youngest member of BTS is proving to the world that he’s all grown up.
The music video for “Seven” features popular Korean actress Han Sohee. She’s been in various dramas since beginning her career in 2017, but perhaps the one that skyrocketed Sohee to fame was her starring role in Nevertheless. It might’ve even been the role that made her the perfect choice for Jungkook’s music video, as both follow a tumultuous relationship centered around physical intimacy. The video starts on Monday with Jungkook and Sohee arguing over dinner, oblivious to the earthquake that shatters the scene around them. They move throughout the week with Jungkook following his love interest to various locations in an attempt to win her back. From hanging outside a train car window to drowning in a flooded laundromat, the video carries a hint of cheeky humor in every new location. Perhaps the most “Jungkook” scene of all comes on Saturday during his fake funeral. He’s lying in a casket as Latto delivers her bold rap before Jungkook suddenly pushes the lid open in time with an angelic high note, and the look on Sohee’s face is priceless. In the end, his wild efforts pay off. “Seven” ends with the couple hand in hand, looking perfectly happy despite the storm raging on around them.
You can check out the clean version of “Seven” along with the official music video linked below. For an even more uncensored rendition, the explicit version is also available on all streaming platforms. Jungkook has mentioned that he’s working on a full-length album as well, so consider “Seven” an enticing teaser of what’s to come.
