STRAY KIDS’ VOCALRACHA SUB-UNIT

While the group is known for their hip-hop infused electronic sound, that does not stop Stray Kids’ vocalists Seungmin and I.N. from showing off their striking vocals.

Although they are not the only vocalists of Stray Kids, vocal line sub-unit VOCALRACHA consists of two members. The duo was just 17 at the time of their debut, and they have strengthened their abilities over the last five years as they have grown.

Seungmin

In his new SKZ-RECORD “Hold On,” written by fellow Stray Kids member Han, Seungmin tells a heart-wrenching story of a dog owner hoping to be reunited with his beloved pet in the afterlife. Many fans commented on how Seungmins melodic voice enhances the emotions of the lyrics, bringing many to tears. This is his first SKZ-RECORD that is an original solo song, giving fans a taste of his own style that is certainly expected to continuously evolve.

Seungmins range is showcased in his 2020 SKZ-RECORD cover of the rock ballad “You Were Beautiful (예뻤어)” by DAY6. These SKZ-RECORDs allow for the members to explore styles unique to themselves outside of Stray Kids’ signature sound.

I.N.

A week ahead of the release of Stray Kids’ album 5-STAR, I.N. starred in an episode of LeeMujin Service. There, the Busan-born trot singer was able to show off his wistful vocals. Opening up the episode with his original song “Hug Me”, his voice remained stable and smooth despite this being his first solo music show appearance since competing on trot survival program Favorite Entertainment in 2020. As performing solo is not something the members often do, I.N. expressed his concerns as he could not predict how fans would react to his performance. To no surprise, many fans were shocked by his abilities and praised I.N. for the obvious improvement in his vocalization since the start of his career. During the episode he discussed desires for his solo debut and explained that he feels that the indie genre would suit him as a soloist.

VOCALRACHA

Pop-rock track “Can’t Stop” from the album MAXIDENT written and composed by Seungmin, I.N., and Hong Jisang is the first and only Stray Kids song performed solely by VOCALRACHA.

While nearly every Stray Kids song is written and produced by at least one member of their rap sub-unit 3RACHA, fans hope to hear more songs in the future written and sung by VOCALRACHA as all members are actively experimenting in songwriting.
