Artist Highlight: Cha Eunwoo

The multi-talented visual of ASTRO that has taken over the acting industry.

ASTRO

Eunwoo debuted as a member of ASTRO on February 23, 2016 shortly before his nineteenth birthday. He joined Fantagio Entertainment at around age 15 after being scouted at a school festival, although he originally had no intention of becoming an idol. Aside from being a vocalist and the visual of the group, Eunwoo is also known as someone with a wide range of abilities. He has picked up many languages over the years and plays piano, guitar, and violin. His abilities don’t stop there, he is also both a lyricist and a composer. Eunwoo has nine songwriting credits to his name under the Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA), eight of which are ASTRO songs. The remaining song is an OST that comes from web series Top Management, which Eunwoo also has a main role in. He is credited as a lyricist on ASTRO songs such as "You & Me (Thanks AROHA)," "Merry-Go-Round," and “Don’t Worry.”

Acting

He made his acting debut in 2014 with a small role in the movie My Brilliant Life. All members of ASTRO starred in a web series prior to their debut titled To Be Continued, a show about a boygroup that is transported back in time to highschool. In 2018, Eunwoo was cast in his first lead role in the series My ID is Gangnam Beauty. Since then, he has gone on to accumulate around 10 main roles in various dramas and movies, garnering fans and brand deals. He has been cast for the main role of Kwan Seonyul in upcoming mystery K-Drama Wonderful World which will be released in March 2024. Eunwoo has become one of the most popular South Korean actors, ranking him among veteran actors such as Lee Minho (Boys Over Flowers, The Heirs, Legend of the Blue Sea), Lee Jongsuk (W, While You Were Sleeping), Park Seojoon (She Was Pretty, Hwarang, Itaewon Class), and many more. 

Ambassadorships

His immense popularity and good looks have made Eunwoo an ideal candidate for brand ambassadorships. Since 2021, he has modeled for brands in various industries including: clothing, food, soju, perfume, insurance, and cough drops. Among these are Burberry, Dior, Skechers, Subway, Ricola, The North Face, and Hanwha Life. His endorsements not only give him more recognition in Korea and internationally, but also improve sales for many companies. In April 2022, he modeled for mens brand Liberclassy, generating over 70 million won in sales and giving an 806% increase in traffic to the company’s mall in just the first week alone.
