Managing the Stress When Tours are Announced
With numerous groups announcing their tours right now, it can be easy to get caught up in the stress over it. How many groups will you see? How much money can you realistically spend? Who do you want to see in the first place? These are only a few questions that go through our heads when tours begin to be announced and it can be stressful. This month, we’ll go into how to manage the stress of it all.
Between tour announcements and festivals all dropping what feels like at once, it can be overwhelming, and that fear of missing out feeling can wash over quickly. It’s important to recognize though if one artist you like is participating in both a tour and a festival (ATEEZ, I’m looking at you) you don’t have to go to both. If your bank account cannot handle the funds for one over the other, that’s okay. You’re still getting the experience of seeing your favorite group at all and creating memories no matter what. The other biggest thing to remember is even if you can’t go at all, it doesn’t make you less of a fan of the artist.
When multiple groups are touring around the same time, this can make the decision a little more difficult. Usually the biggest factor, especially for older/adult fans, is finding the time off work and the money to go. Younger fans may struggle with finding rides or worrying about what day the show falls on if school is a factor. The one thing to know is usually groups tour more than once and it’s especially becoming more common for them to go internationally - primarily in the U.S. The chance groups return after successfully coming to the States once is usually a big one, so if you miss them the first time you will definitely have another chance eventually. While boy groups do eventually have to worry about enlistment, they still likely will return to touring when they return from duties as well.
When it comes to deciding who to see, prioritize it how you see fit. If your absolute favorite group is coming, go see them. But if it’s groups you might have missed the first time they came to your city, consider seeing them over others. Sometimes it’s hard to tell when groups are going to return, so if you have the opportunity to do so then take it!
Regardless of whether you can attend one, none, or multiple tours, don’t stress. Your ability to attend a concert or not does not make you more or less of a fan at all.
