Throwback Thursday: The Color is Gray

I look forward to the beginning of a new month. With each new month, something new happens in our lives. Every month we come together to talk about a new color, and this month's color is gray—a nice middle ground between the boldness of black, and the brightness of white. There are plenty of albums that represent this color, and they all are a middle ground between the two colors. So, let’s take it back and talk about some albums that are the color gray.

DAY6 - The Book of Us: Entropy

On October 22, 2019, JYP Entertainment rock band DAY6 dropped their jam-packed album, The Book of Us: Entropy. Before even playing the album you are captivated by the album cover. The cover is gray and shows the members, Wonpil, Young K, Sungjin, Dowoon, and former member Jae in the middle. The glitch effect on the members gives the album a more eerie tone. The album title is in bold red print and is the perfect final touch on the album. This album is home to their iconic title track, “Sweet Chaos.” It also homes the B-sides, “Deep in Love,” “EMERGENCY,” “Rescue Me,” “365247,” “About Now,” “OUCH,” “Not Fine,” “ Stop Talking,” “Not Mine,” and “Like a flowing mind.” This album is so good and has a song for everyone.

GOT7 - FLIGHT LOG: TURBULENCE

On September 27, 2016, former JYP Entertainment boy group GOT7 dropped their iconic, well-known album, FLIGHT LOG: TURBULENCE. The album cover is right in your face and grasps your attention the moment you lay eyes on it. Covered in different shades of gray, the main picture is an image from their title track, “Hard Carry.” The members have their backs to the camera. Surrounded by a purple, blue, and pink outlined box, the album title is the same colors, and bold. The album has 13 songs that showcase the talent that GOT7 has. The title track, “Hard Carry,” is one of their most well-known tracks. The B-sides on the album are, “Skyway,” “Boom x3,” “Prove It,” “No Jam,” “HEY,” “My Home,” “Who’s That,” “If,” “Sick,” “Dreamin’,” and “Let Me.” To this day, this album is always on repeat. It is a great album loved by many.

WayV - Kick Back - The 3rd Mini Album - EP

On March 10, 2021, SM Entertainment and NCT subunit WayV, dropped their addictive EP, Kick Back - The 3rd Mini Album. This album cover is so unique. The background is a satellite image of a city. You can see the houses, trees, and highways. Interlocked with the highway is the iconic WayV logo: in a lighter gray color is the humongous V that stands out compared to the smaller background. We all know how talented WayV is, and in this album, they did not come to play. The album starts with their hard-hitting title track, “Kick Back.” From there, the party continues with “Action Figure,” “Horizon,” “All For Love,” “Good Time,” and “Kick Back (Korean Version).” This comeback was so much fun, and we enjoyed every second of it.
