Throwback Thursday: Let’s Talk Some Soloists Part 1
It’s all fun to talk about our favorite groups and duos but what about our soloists? We all have a favorite soloist. If I sat here and named all of them, we’d be here forever. So, let's split it up and talk about some soloists whose songs always hit.
MAX CHANGMIN - “Devil”
There are so many songs of his that I can pick, but there is something about “Devil” that just always hits. MAX CHANGMIN is a member of TVXQ! and is a very successful soloist. His song “Devil” was released on January 13, 2022, and is featured on his EP, Devil - The 2nd Mini Album. I remember exactly where I was when I heard this song. I was in my room and so happened to scroll to an edit with the song attached to it. I instantly went and looked it up and have been obsessed ever since. This masterpiece not only showcases the powerful vocals of MAX CHANGMIN, it also has a choir singing in the background. This combo will make you feel like you are levitating. That final chorus is a combination of him, the choir, and ad-libs, and it is magical. It’s such a beautiful song, and I need everyone to listen to it.
TAEMIN - “IDEA”
This is another track that the moment I heard it, I was hooked. SHINee member TAEMIN is a well-known soloist in the world of K-Pop. His music is influential and showcases the true talent of TAEMIN. “IDEA” is the title track off his third album, Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2. I haven’t moved on from “IDEA,” and I don’t think I ever will. The song starts tame, then you are hit with a beat that will have you swaying along to it. The beats in TAEMIN’s song never miss and this is a prime example. His vocals are something out of this world. There are belts, high notes, and runs that will make you rewind the song all over again. To this day, this dance is covered by many and will forever be a favorite amongst fans.
JUNNY - “Promise”
After just seeing JUNNY earlier this week, I am still not over seeing this song live. For those who don’t know, JUNNY is a singer, songwriter, and producer who makes such beautiful music. “Promise” is a song from his single release, Promise. This breathtaking ballad showcases JUNNY’s talent. His voice is strong, smooth, and carries so much emotion. “Promise” is a dreamy track that you can play while relaxing, or if you just need a track to scream the lyrics too. This song has been one of my favorite JUNNY tracks since it was released back on December 16, 2023. I truly recommend for everyone to check out this song and all of JUNNY’s music. It’s hit after hit and you will get hooked.
