Throwback Thursday: The Color is Green
Hello, and welcome back! Today, the category is the color green. Green comes in many shades, and these hit albums show those different shades. So, let’s take it back and talk about albums that shimmer like green.
MONSTA X - THE CONNECT: DEJAVU
On March 26, 2018, Starship Entertainment's hit boy group MONSTA X dropped their iconic album, THE CONNECT: DEJAVU. The black base and emerald green MONSTA X symbol create an album cover that is captivating, simple, and straight to the point. The album has seven songs that showcase MONSTA X’s amazing diverse abilities. Ballads, dance tracks, and hard-hitting rap songs are all present in this album. The title track, “Jealousy,” is my favorite MONSTA X title track. The members Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, I.M, and former member Wonho put their all into this song. “A little jealousy” is a lyric many know and sing along to. The track is upbeat and incorporates that iconic MONSTA X bass-induced sound. THE CONNECT: DEJAVU is home to B-sides, “Destroyer,” “Fallin’,” “Crazy in Love,” “Lost in the Dream,” “If Only,” and “Special.” These songs are fantastic, and THE CONNECT: DEJAVU would be empty without them. It’s an album I would recommend to everyone.
PENTAGON - Thumbs Up!
Have you ever heard a song that brings a smile to your face instantly? That’s what happens to me when I listen to this album. On September 10, 2018, Cube Entertainment boy group PENTAGON released their EP, Thumbs Up! The neon green background and bold black print album title make a minimalistic cover that grabs your attention. On the EP, five songs in total create a happy-go-lucky vibe. The title track, “Naughty boy,” is bright, upbeat, and uplifting. PENTAGON are amazing vocalists and the B-sides on the album show that. “Just do it yo!!,” “SKATEBOARD,” “When It Rains in Night,” and “Thumbs Up!” are all super fun to listen to, and create an EP where the members at the time, Jinho, Hui, Hongseok, Shinwon, Yeo One, Yuto, Kino, and Wooseok vocal and rap abilities are on full display. It’s a great EP that will bring you pure joy.
EXO - DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING - Special Album - EP
On June 7, 2021, SM Entertainment mega boy group EXO dropped DON’T FIGHT THE FEELING - Special Album - EP. This five-song EP has all the qualities of an EXO album with nice R&B, pop, and groovy tracks. The album is black and shows a green grid. It connects with the concept of them being on a ship. The title track, “Don’t fight the feeling,” is a groovy dance song with soulful vocals. The B-sides “Paradise,” “No matter,” “Runaway,” and “Just as usual” are all songs that I would recommend to anyone trying to get into EXO.
