Throwback Thursday: The Color is Pink
We are in a new month, which means a new color. This month we are going to focus on the color pink. This bright, pretty, and bubbly color is the cover color for many K-Pop albums, EPs, and singles we know and love. So, today we will take it back, and talk about some cute covers that brighten our mood for the album.
EXID - Up & Down - Single
On August 28, 2014, girl group EXID dropped their well-known track, “Up & Down.” Everything about this song is iconic. The choreography, the lyrics, and the vocals are amazing! The members, Solji, Elly, Hani, Hyerin, and Jeonghwa gave us a single that we will never forget. The album cover is pink and gray, and in the background, we see the members leaning on the wall, or sitting on a couch. The poses are giving model, and we love it. The bold pink lettering spells “UP DOWN,” and takes up the majority of the cover. A lot of the group’s albums are pink, and picking only one was hard since all of their albums are so good. This song is upbeat, great to dance to, and makes you feel like a girlboss.
BLACKPINK - SQUARE UP - EP
Many of us believe that 2018 is the best year for K-Pop. So many artists dropped absolute bangers that year and BLACKPINK is one of them. Their EP SQUARE UP dropped on June 15, 2018. This EP is home to the tracks, “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Forever Young,” “Really,” and “See U Later.” The title track “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is one of the most well-known songs in K-Pop. The electronic beat and striking raps create a hard-hitting track that many love to sing and dance along to. The album cover is light pink with 3D effects. The cube in the middle is black and pink and is a cute subtle representation of BLACKPINK. The members Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa put their all into this comeback and it is always great to go back and watch.
GOT7 - 7 for 7
On October 10, 2017, GOT7 dropped their jam-packed album 7 for 7. The album cover is beautiful. The black silhouettes of the members against the pink, purple, and sprinkles of orange sky are breathtaking. The album is home to seven songs that are as impactful as the next. “Moon U,” “Teenager,” “You Are,” “Firework,” “Remember You,” “To Me,” and “Face” are amazing songs that hold a place in many of our hearts. This album has two title tracks, which is a theme we sometimes see in K-Pop. “Teenager” is an upbeat track with a hip-hop beat. “Yeah, you make me a teenager. You make me a teenager.” The lyrics are addictive, and so is the choreography. The next song, “You Are,” is a lighthearted pop ballad that makes you feel alive. The song is refreshing and has such magnificent vocals. JB, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, Bambam, and Yugyeom gave us an album that will go down in history as one of the greats.
