TBT Throwback Thursday: July Debuts Part 2
Back in 2023, we talked about the debuts of some of our favorite groups. The first part only scratched the surface of the many groups that made their big debuts in July, and today we will pick up right where we left off.
Girl’s Day - “Tilting my head”
Since the beginning, these girls have been iconic. On July 7, 2010, Dream T Entertainment girl group Girl’s Day dropped their track, “Tilting my head,” followed by their official debut on July 9, 2010. This electro-funk track is high-energy, and a track that will make you want to dance. The song has a heavy techno sound that was popular at the time. Many of us know Girl’s Day because of their well-known track, “Something,” but before that, they were there they started as five members in colorful outfits. As time progressed, some members left and new ones joined. Jihae, Jisun, Jiin, Sokin, and Minah did an amazing job, and their debut will remain iconic just like them.
KARD - “Hola Hola”
It’s time to dance. It’s time to party. That’s how many feel when they hear this song. On July 19, 2017, DSP Media co-ed group KARD debuted with their track, “Hola Hola.” This song is true to its time. 2015 to 2017 were the years of techno/house music. Artists like The Chainsmokers, Diplo, and Major Lazer were releasing the catchiest songs. “Hola Hola,” incorporates those catchy beats and still sticks to the pop sound. If the songs don’t make you want to dance, then the video will. Watching the members dance on the beach looks like so much fun. To this day, KARD is a big name in K-Pop, and the members, BM, Jiwoo, J.Seph, and Somin continue to evolve in the K-Pop game.
