Block B B-Sides

With the resurgence of Block B following their reunion on the final episode of 'The Season's - Zico's Artist,' I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of their B-side tracks. I'll admit, I haven't listened to much of Block B's work until now, but by making this list, I have been able to discover more music and add more of Block B to my K-Pop playlists. Now you can too!

“Walkin’ In The Rain”

From their 2016 EP Blooming Period, Block B deliver smooth, R&B-pop vibes in the fourth single “Walkin’ In The Rain.” The combination of the members' vocal ranges and delivery against the song's sweet melody creates an exceptionally pleasing listening experience that makes me want to listen to “Walkin’ In The Rain” on repeat. The instrumentation carries a delicate vibe that feels romantic yet also emotional. Overall, “Walkin’ In The Rain” carries a different vibe to other Block B tracks that I have listened to, making me appreciate “Walkin’ In The Rain” that extra bit more.

“Very Good - Rough Version”

We all know Block B's addictive single “Very Good” from its eponymous 2013 EP, but on their fourth mini-album H.E.R, Block B decided to put a heavy rock twist on to the track with “Very Good - Rough Version.” In this version, Block B ramps up the rock elements that can be heard slightly in the original melody, with the members now channeling an infectious rock energy and delivering a hard-hitting and head-banging installment for us rock lovers to enjoy. The inclusion of “I wanna rock right now” and the heavier sounds in the instrumentation with the guitar, drums, and Block B's gritty vocals is addictive, making this one of my favorite K-Pop alternate versions.

“ACTION”

Block B deliver an old school sound in their second mini-album, Welcome to the BLOCK, with their funky, smooth penultimate track, “ACTION.” “ACTION”  will have you dancing along to its groovy beat and singing along to the addictive “울랄라 울랄라 울랄라 울랄라” adlibs right from the very beginning. Towards the end of the song, an intricate and impressive jazzy piano piece plays, adding an extra element to the song and its overall old school vibe. The old school sound in “ACTION” is one of my favorite styles of early generation K-Pop track, making me wish I had heard Block B and “ACTION” when the song was first released.
