Best of August 2024
August was thriving with a lot of great K-Pop tracks this year. From established acts, debut groups, soloists, and so on, there was something for everyone to listen to last month. Here are some of my favorites.
“Must Be Nice” - BamBam
BamBam delivers delicate, bedroom pop vibes in “Must Be Nice,” the fourth track from his latest EP BAMESIS. “Must Be Nice” kindles a dreamlike sound with BamBam’s soft vocal approach, melodic beat, and bittersweet lyrics that reflect BamBam's selfless act of watching someone move on and find happiness without him. It is a beautifully performed track that reveals a different artistic and emotional side of BamBam and his music.
“Tonight I Might” - KATSEYE
One of K-Pop’s newest and most talked about girl groups of this year, KATSEYE released their highly-anticipated debut mini-album SIS (Soft Is Strong) on August 16. With two upbeat pre-releases, the B-side tracks take a slower or more chilled approach with their sounds with the closing track “Tonight I Might” being my favorite. The song carries extremely relatable lyrics that speak to the soul of those who lack confidence but want to find that inner confidence and finally start living life the way they want. It’s an empowering track that provides a great sense of encouragement and meaning.
“미치지 못하는 이유 (Crazier)” - LE SSERAFIM
From their latest EP CRAZY, LE SSERAFIM dive into a beautiful soft ballad with “Crazier,” the EP's closing track. This song evokes an old school melody with gentle, angelic vocals from the members as they sing about their worries, regrets, and life changes as they grow older. The lyrics are honest and relatable and the composition of the track with LE SSERAFIM's vocals are endearing with touches of nostalgia that make this a stunning track to listen to.
