My All-Time Favorite B-Sides (Soloists Edition)

We’ve talked about girl groups and boy groups. Now, it is time to talk about some soloists. There are so many amazing, talented soloists out there who have such fantastic music. These songs will make you feel all types of emotions while listening. I scoured my K-Hip-Hop/R&B playlists to find the perfect songs to talk about. So, let’s get into it.

Baekhyun - “Drown”

On January 20, 2021, Baekhyun dropped his groovy and sensual Japanese EP, BAEKHYUN. This EP is jam-packed with six songs, but there is one specifically that just stands out. “Drown” is the fourth song on the EP and will have you swaying your hips along to the beat. We all know how powerful Baekhyun’s voice is, and in this song, he proved to us that no matter the concept, he will outshine. This bass-induced beat complements the more sensual sound that Baehkyun has throughout the song. This song is pretty underrated, and many people either don’t know about the track or just forgot it existed. I say grab your headphones, turn the volume up, and enjoy this banger.

Jaehyun - “Completely”

On August 26, 2024, NCT member Jaehyun dropped his debut album, J - The 1st Album. This album is one for the books. Every single song on this album is perfect, but there is one ballad that is near and dear to my heart. “Completely” is the fifth song on the album and is a masterpiece. This beautiful ballad showcases Jaehyun’s soulful voice. It’s a song about love and being in love with someone. If I ever get married, I would definitely have to play this song. It is so graceful and brings a smile to any listeners face.

BIBI - “Sugar Rush”

On February 13, 2024, soloists BIBI dropped her upbeat, adorable and spicy single, Bam Yang Gang. Just from the first song you would think this is a sweet, bubbly track. Then you hear the second song and you think wow, what a change. “Sugar Rush” is a song for the girlies to feel empowered. The lyrics are well written and show BIBI’s hard-hitting attitude. “No artificial sweetener. You gon’ eat it up ‘til yo’ teeth hurt. I don’t need a man for no dessert. I got popsicles in my freezer.” It’s such a fun song that I think everyone should listen to.
