CIX Kicks Off a New Era as Four with “THUNDER”
It’s been about a year since we’ve heard from CIX, and they’ve surely been missed in that time. In the last year we’ve seen some lineup changes, with member Bae Jinyoung leaving the group. The new mini-album THUNDER FEVER kickstarts a new era for the quartet, but the boys assure fans not too much has changed in this new comeback.
“Just like our albums so far, our seventh mini-album, THUNDER FEVER, is filled with perfect music for CIX. As soon as you hear the songs in this album, you’ll notice that those are CIX’s songs. We are eager to share our music and perform for our fans, FIX, as soon as possible! We look forward to having another happy, healthy promotion with FIX for this album, and to continuing to present diverse sides of us in the future!” – BX, Leader of CIX
“You waited for a long time, FIX! We worked on this album by sharing many thoughts and opinions among members. From our title track, ‘THUNDER,’ you’ll feel the vibe that only CIX can create. We also focused on creating the performance that can best embody who we are. We worked very hard on this album, so please look forward to it! Let’s create great memories together again with this album!” – HYUNSUK, Member of CIX

So FIX, what do you think? “THUNDER” kicks off immediately with a high-energy driving beat that doesn’t cease for the entire almost four minutes of the track. I have to say, I’m very happy to see a title track longer than barely three minutes, as the trend has been shorter the better lately. There’s definitely an intensity in the energy of this song, heart rate almost instinctively increasing at the fast pace of the tempo. Combined with the falsetto vocals at the chorus and the groovy rhythm guitar, you can really feel the fire CIX brings in this title track.
As CIX has always done, choreography is a main focal point of their music video. The choreography is as intensive as the song would suggest and matches well with the driving beat. As you’d expect, electricity takes the main stage as a visual element in the video, and the industrial setting was unexpected, but somehow fitting with the concept. The video is fun, and the effects added to emphasize the track do a great job at adding some immersion.
