Bringing J-Pop to the World: Introducing PSYCHIC FEVER

If you spent even 5 minutes on TikTok last year, you would have heard the insanely viral hit “Just Like Dat ft JP THE WAVY” by PSYCHIC FEVER. The Japanese septet consists of members Tsurugi, Ryoga, Ren, Jimmy, Kokoro, Ryushin, and Weesa — debuting on July 13, 2022 and taking the world by storm ever since.

Responsible for explosive tracks such as “Temperature,” “Talk to Me Nice,” and their latest release “What’s Happenin’,” it's no surprise the group is kicking off 2025 with a highly anticipated U.S. tour.

Sitting down with the group ahead of their sold out DC stop, The Kraze got to learn a little bit more about what they’re thinking going into their first stateside tour, their music and what's next.

Q: Firstly, congratulations on your first U.S. tour and thank you so much for sitting down with us. We would love to know what being PSYCHIC FEVER means to you all?

Kokoro: All seven of us have attended EXPG (schools for performing arts) and all seven of us have our own uniqueness. When we come together we create a chemical reaction that creates a new kind of entertainment.

Q: That’s such a cool way to think about it! Following, has there been a particular moment as an artist that stands out and that you guys are most proud of?

Ryoga: Being able to be here for the first day of our U.S. tour. Ever since PSYCHIC FEVER formed, being able to perform globally and also in the states has always been a dream of ours. We are very happy that it has finally come true.

Q: With your newest release “What’s Happenin” - Congratulations, on that as well - what has been your favorite part of the process?

Jimmy: The song is a collaboration with JP THE WAVY and it is very inspired by the early 2000s and the artist we watched growing up. Fashion wise, inspiration came from Pharrell Williams, Teriyaki Boyz, and Nigo - it has been a lot of fun to work on this new release.

Q: Piggybacking off of that question, For new ForEVER, and for veteran fans, what PSYCHIC FEVER song best represents who the group is now and why?

All: “Just Like Dat.”

K: “Just Like Dat” went viral last year and it became the entry for a lot of people to know about PSYCHIC FEVER. So for new fans we would like them to listen to the song and understand who PSYCHIC FEVER is as a group.

Q: Though D.C. is your first stop, is there a specific city you all are looking forward to performing at during this tour and why?

All: Texas. (Laughter, pointing to Tsurugi)

Weesa: Dallas.

Tsurugi: Yes, Dallas! I’ll get to wear a lot of my hats!

Q: Lastly, what are your hopes and dreams for PSYCHIC FEVER going forward?

K: Last year, we completed an Asia tour and now we’re doing a U.S. tour so our hopes and goals for the future is to do a world tour and be even more global. We want to perform in even more places to take PSYCHIC FEVER and our company worldwide.

Thank you PSYCHIC FEVER for sitting down with us and Konnect’d Entertainment for the opportunity. Make sure to catch them on stage in a city near you, and keep an eye (and ear) on these guys—they're definitely ones to watch!
