YEJI’s Debut Is A Breath Of Fresh “Air”

The long-awaited debut of ITZY member/leader YEJI is finally here! The moment her debut was announced, the excitement was felt by all. YEJI’s debut AIR - EP is jam-packed with four songs that showcase the immense talent of YEJI.

AIR - EP Tracklist:

  1. “Air”

  2. “Invasion”

  3. “Can’t Slow Me, No”

  4. “258”

Title Track - “Air”

The EP starts with the title track, “Air.” Like air, she sings in a more breathy tone, creating a lighthearted aura around the song. At the beginning of the song, she sings on a more staccato beat, but once the verse builds up, a synth beat comes in, and you can feel yourself getting hyped. With this more retro sound, the song  has a groovy feel to it, and because of that, you can’t help but dance along to the beat. YEJI’s voice fits this concept of music: her falsetto notes sound perfect with that retro sound, and while this is different from previous YEJI tracks we have heard on ITZY albums, this style does uniquely fit YEJI.

The music video is really pretty. There are shots of YEJI in striking colors with a faded/mellow background. For example, we see her in a red top and black bottoms, while the background is gray/black, so because of that, she stands out. We all know what a fantastic dancer YEJI is, and in her debut, she did not disappoint. Her moves are striking and to the point, but there are moments when she’s flowing like air. Incorporating some vouging effects, there are parts the moves are pointed and dramatic. The choreography is very impressive and shows the skills of YEJI and the dancers. You can see more of this compelling choreography in her STUDIO CHOOM video.

“Invasion,” “Can’t Slow Me, No,” and “258” are all such great songs and showcase the range that YEJI has. While listening, you will be able to experience a range of emotions and have the time of your life, so check out AIR - EP for a fun and enjoyable debut.
