Extraordinary B-Sides from Xdinary Heroes

Next week, our favorite heroes return as Xdinary Heroes make their comeback with a sixth mini-album, Beautiful Mind. As we, Villains, wait and prepare ourselves for their new release, let’s take a look back at some of the extraordinary singles to have come from Xdinary Heroes thus far. 

“PLUTO”

Xdinary Heroes sends an encouraging message of hope in “PLUTO,” the third track from their fourth mini-album LIVELOCK. A genre concoction of rap, pop, punk, and ballad, “PLUTO” delivers a powerful message of overcoming obstacles and finding strength in oneself, delivered through emotional yet uplifting lyrics co-written by each member. Gaon opens the track with a strong yet soft rap verse followed by O.de, whose voice has an added vocal effect that gives off a galactic vibe, perfectly connecting to the track’s space-themed title. Jooyeon and Jungsu, on the other hand, deliver a beautiful combination of light and breathy vocals in the pre-chorus, with Jooyeon, in particular, giving me chills and making me feel a wave of emotions with the way he sings his pre-chorus lines, with contrasting yet stunningly intense vocals in the chorus. If you are looking for a track that will inspire you yet allow you to cry, then “PLUTO” is that song.

“Strawberry Cake”

Notably, the highest vocal track across Xdinary Heroes’s discography, the delicious B-side “Strawberry Cake” highlights the incredible vocal range of Jooyeon and Jungsu, the band’s two main vocalists. Released in 2022, “Strawberry Cake” stands out as a unique track that is distinctively Xdinary Heroes, from the incredible vocals to the track’s fun yet eerie melody. Not only the vocals but each instrument has its own standout moment that allows the listener to truly appreciate the level of detail and craftsmanship that has gone into the band and their music, especially with how early on into their career this track was released.

“XYMPHONY”

Xdinary Heroes deliver beautiful chaos in their fifth mini-album, LIVE and FALL, with the seventh and highly addictive track “XYMPHONY.” Immediately, “XYMPHONY” screams Xdinary Heroes. With its unique and intricate instrumentation and fierce vocal arrangements, Xdinary Heroes take the listener on an incredible audio adventure that feels as if we have been transported into a movie or video game. Led by the Xdinary Heroes members, their vocals and instrumental skills battle against evil and lead us to a victorious end with “XYMPHONY” being powerful, dramatic, and fun, allowing you to escape from reality and enter Xdinary Heroes’s vibrant world.
