Five Ways that TREASURE Wowed Their First U.S. Tour Stop in NYC

“It’s about time” was a sentiment that was shared by many TREASURE fans who stood eagerly for hours ahead of TREASURE’s first U.S. Tour stop in New York City. Aptly named TREASURE SPECIAL MOMENT 2025 FIRST US TOUR, on April 6 at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York, the ten members of the group, Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Jaehyuk, Asahi, Haruto, Doyoung, Jeongwoo, and Junghwan exceeded the anticipation built on their first performance stateside. The group that debuted in 2020, backed by a live band, put on a show that had everyone vibing, jumping and singing along. New York started the tour with a bang, and even after the final song finished, here are the aspects of TREASURE and the moments that lingered.
YG Entertainment is known as a company that focuses on live performance skills, focusing less on knife-sharp complicated choreographed routines to, frankly, putting out a stellar performance. Their controlled, yet free movements were epitomized with TREASURE, on a scale not seen by any other YG group due to the number of members and the skills of each. The controlled chaos was definitely on as each member did their best to engage with fans, jumping and vibing like supercharged energizer bunnies. Don’t get us wrong, there was choreography, smooth and well executed, but the moves took second to the vibe itself, which was insanely infectious.
It was clear that TREASURE was ready and primed to sing live. With mics in hand, the focus was on a live non-pre-recorded concert devoid of any backtrack. From the start, they were ready to put on a live show complete with a live four piece band. The sound quality all around was insane in the gorgeous Brooklyn Paramount venue, and adding to the volume were screams from TREASURE MAKERs (TEUME), their fandom, which made the venue insane. With the vocal heavier songs like “사랑해 (I LOVE YOU)” and “I WANT YOUR LOVE,” the live vocals and music were a gift to our ears.
How can you have a group with this much swag? From Hyunsuk’s shades and the blue leather-like studded jackets that opened the show with their starting performance of “직진 (JIKJIN),” to their bedazzled jeans and the sparkly white tank of Haruto’s that I seriously want to steal, to Yoshi repping New York with his Yankee’s cap, the guys came out in comfort and style, creating the perfect youthful hip synergy that carries their personas.
While the opening act was dynamic and strong with “직진 (JIKJIN),” “BONA BONA,” “BOY,” and “사랑해 (I LOVE YOU),” it was their unit stages that really let you focus on members. Asahi and Haruto’s “THANK YOU” had amazing synergy and though Asahi’s vocals were solid and a great balance to Haruto’s rapline, the deeper tone of Haruto’s voice when he sang sent shivers down my spine. Who can resist the T5 made up of Jihoon, Junkyu, Jaehyuk, Doyoung, and Junghwan. The power, dynamic movements, not to mention Junkyu’s vocals, made this powerful performance fun and had the floor screaming. Last, but not least, was probably my favorite, as YG rappers are no joke. Hyunsuk, Yoshi, and Haruto, which merged “G.O.A.T” and “VolKno,” had everyone pumping their arms through this last unit stage.
It was clear that TREASURE was there to perform and give their all to New York fans. Their engagement, their subtle eye contact, smiles, and when they actually went into the pit to engage directly, were not on the level of a rookie group on their first tour. Though they have bypassed rookie status, it was refreshing to have artists so comfortable on stage, who are easily able to engage so effortlessly, especially through the last songs of the night, “DARARI” and “RUN,” as well as into their encores of “GOING CRAZY,” “B.L.T (BLING LIKE THIS)” and “ORANGE.”
The show went way too fast, a sign that you’re having a great time. With more stops, their Grammy Museum stop and their presence at Dodgers's Korean Heritage Night, TREASURE is set to put their footprint down solidly stateside. The show was a blast that left you wanting more and we can’t help but want TREASURE back again in New York again soon.
Thank you to Live Nation, YG Entertainment and most of all to TREASURE for having us at their first show in the U.S.
