If you’ve been following K-Pop over the last few years, chances are you’ve heard of Yves, and if not, now is a good time to tune in. Yves officially debuted with LOONA in November 2017 as the group's ninth member, and since then, she’s proven to be one of the most resilient idols out there, carving out her own unique path as an artist.

Yves in LOONA

LOONA, known for their ambitious pre-debut project and all the intricate storytelling that came with it, quickly made a name for themselves in the K-Pop world. Yves played a huge role in that rise, not just because of her amazing performances, but also because of the natural leadership energy she brought to the group. After being revealed as LOONA’s ninth member in November 2017, she made an immediate impact with her solo single album, featuring the track “New.” It really set the tone for her confident, self-assured persona within the group. She also added to the group's creativity by contributing to their songwriting, and even stepping into hosting as an MC for Fact iN Star in 2020. Through it all, Yves helped shape LOONA’s unique identity and carved out her own path in the K-Pop world.

Life After LOONA

After LOONA’s disbandment, Yves, like many of her bandmates, took a step back to figure out her next move. She parted ways with the company and took a breather from the K-Pop industry, but she didn’t completely disappear. She stayed connected with fans by sharing bits of her life on Instagram and YouTube, offering a more personal, behind-the-scenes look at who she is outside of the spotlight. It was clear she was taking her time, making sure that whatever came next would be true to her.

Then, in March 2024, big news dropped: Yves signed an exclusive contract with Paix Per Mil, a label founded by producer Millic. Fans were ecstatic after a long time of waiting, Yves was officially back.

The Solo Era

Fast forward to May 2024, Yves announced her first solo EP, LOOP, set to drop on May 29. It felt like a long time coming. Six-and-a-half years after her LOONA debut, she was finally stepping out completely on her own. LOOP promised a sleek, house-pop sound, something a little different from what fans might have expected based on her LOONA days. But that’s what made it so exciting.

Giving fans tracks like "Diorama," "Afterglow," and the title song "Loop (feat. Lil Cherry)"  showed just how versatile she could be. The project pulled off a cool balance of mixing current K-Pop trends with her own unique flair, and was praised for its layered production and fresh and reinventive pop sound. Each track brought out a different side of her, from the energetic chaos of "Diorama" to the softer, emotional pull of "Goldfish." Right out the gate, Yves made it clear she wasn’t just going solo for the sake of it. She was building her own lane.

A few months later, Yves kept the momentum going with her second EP, I Did, in November 2024. This time, she got even more personal, digging into themes of self-discovery and healing. The EP blended house, hyperpop, and dreamy synths, giving each track, such as” Viola,” the feeling of a little story or character study. Both fans and the general public loved how fearless and boundary-pushing it was. Then in February 2025, she dropped I Did: Bloom, a deluxe version that added two more standout tracks: "See You in Hell" and "BIRD." Both songs showed even deeper layers of emotion and risk-taking, mixing vulnerability and defiance in a way that felt raw but powerful. It was Yves fully blooming into her own as an artist.

On April 1, 2025, Yves had another moment with DIM ∞, a five-track project centered around her viral hit "DIM." Originally from I Did: Bloom, "DIM" caught fire on TikTok, racked up millions of streams, and basically took over. The new project gave fans fresh versions of the song while doubling down on her signature experimental style, blending house, hyperpop, and alternative sounds into something that felt totally her own. DIM ∞ wasn’t just another win for Yves. It was a sign that she wasn’t just making great music; she was making music that resonated with audiences worldwide.

Yves’s journey is a masterclass in resilience. The K-Pop industry moves fast, and it’s not easy to stay relevant, but Yves has managed to do it with grace and authenticity. Whether she was dazzling on stage or sharing honest moments with fans, she’s always been someone you couldn’t help but root for. Now, as she kicks off this next chapter, Yves is carving out her own lane. She's thriving, and her fans couldn’t be more excited to see where she goes next.
