Have you ever heard the beginning of a song and thought, “This is going to be a hit.” Every great song starts with an unforgettable introduction. There are so many K-Pop songs that have such iconic openings that you can’t help but get addicted to the track automatically. So, let’s take it back and talk about some K-Pop tracks with striking introductions.

EXO - “MAMA”

On April 9, 2012, SM Entertainment mega boy group EXO dropped their iconic, well-known debut track, “MAMA.” Filled with striking raps, deep and soulful vocals, and dramatic instrumentals, “MAMA” is a debut song that will go down in history. The song starts with a chorus of voices that harmonize with one another. The moment you hear the lyrics begin, you are instantly hooked to the track and ready to see what the rest of the song brings you: “Careless, careless. Shoot, anonymous, anonymous. Heartless, mindless. No one, who care about me?”  Like a pronounced buildup, the beat gradually increases, and member D.O sings his line with so much passion. It’s such an unforgettable intro that goes down in history.

LE SSERAFIM - “1-800-hot-n-fun”

On August 30, 2024, LE SSERAFIM released their upbeat, house-inspired EP CRAZY. Filled with songs that will have you on your feet, ready to dance, CRAZY - EP is a complete joy to listen to. One song that truly stood out is their super fun track, “1-800-hot-n-fun.” Starting with a catchy guitar riff, member Yunjin's soothing voice brings us in and prepares us for the song: “Really, I’m honestly just sad about my shoes. Yeah, I like to dance when I party. I like to kiss everybody.” Then members Kazuha and Eunchae join in, adding to the already captivating introduction. And then the famous Sakura reference:“Where the heck is SAKI? She’s waiting down in the lobby. I’m tryna break it down, yeah, baby, get her. Turn up the party.” When all the members join in, a hard, striking beat comes in, and the moment that happens, you are up and ready to dance along to this electrifying rock track.

With songs featuring every member at the time, it was exciting to hear every song on the album. We all know that signature electrifying NCT sound, and they did not disappoint in this song. It’s such a fun song, and that intro will have you hype and ready to sing and dance along.
