Best of August 2025

August 2025 was another great month of boy bands for me, with so many incredible releases from our favorite boys in K-Pop. Here are just some of my favorite releases from last month.
“Mako” - EVNNE
In their fifth mini-album, LOVE ANECDOTE(S), EVNNE delivers infectious dance-pop energy with the album's third track “Mako.” Named after a species of shark, EVNNE channel the sea creature through their lyrics, with lines such as, “Now it’s your turn to be prey, it’s a natural rule / My fangs and your high heels, which one’s deadlier?” and, “My fin slicing through the water is a warning.” These and other lyrics project a slight sensualness to them that differs from the fun, youthful feel heard through the audio. With smooth house beats and an anthemic sound in its chorus, “Mako” radiates a feel-good summer vibe that I can imagine being a fan-favorite when played at K-Pop house parties and themed club nights.
“We Got Time” - RE:WIND
After making their debut on March 28, 2025, with the noughties inspired single “FOREVER,” Asian-American trio RE:WIND continued to throw it back to past eras of music with the tracks on their debut EP, RE:MINISCE. From the five song tracklist, the penultimate single “We Got Time” immediately became my favorite upon listening to RE:MINISCE. “We Got Time” captures the endearing boy band spirit of the late 1990s and early 2000s with its mellow, hip-hop infused pop arrangement, enticing lyrics, and the members’ euphonious vocals that, together, conjure up a warm wave of nostalgia that takes me back to the boy bands, and specifically boy band centered music, of my childhood.
“Did It (일냈어 (Did It))" - AMPerS&ONE
AMPERS&ONE deliver strong, high energy in their third mini-album, LOUD & PROUD. Just like the album’s name, the songs on the tracklist are definitely loud and proud, setting a bold tone as to who AMPERS&ONE are during this comeback. From the tracklist, the fifth and penultimate track “Did It (일냈어 (Did It))” stands out as my favorite song on LOUD & PROUD with its fierce, electro beat that invokes an intense party spirit that takes over your entire body, making you dance along from the very first second. From the heavy bass, to the beat, to the vocals, and vocal effects, everything about “Did It (일냈어 (Did It))” is addictive and makes me want to dive deeper in to AMPERS&ONE’s discography and witness them grow with their music.
