Throwback Thursday: ATEEZ Edition

On October 24, 2018, KQ Entertainment debuted its mega boy group ATEEZ. A stellar group with eight members, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho, ATEEZ is an iconic group with hard-hitting music, unforgettable choreography, and recognizable songs. Over the years, ATEEZ has skyrocketed in popularity amongst K-Pop fans. ATEEZ has released so many tracks over the years that have become favorite songs for many listeners. So, let’s take it back and talk about some ATEEZ tracks that they have released throughout the years.
ZERO: FEVER, Pt. 1 - “INCEPTION”
On July 29, 2020, ATEEZ released their fun and iconic album ZERO: FEVER, Pt. 1, home to songs like “THANXX,” “TO THE BEAT,” “FEVER,” and their well-known title track “INCEPTION.” “INCEPTION” is a hard-hitting song that showcases the vocal range, emotion, and lyrical skills of the ATEEZ members. “INCEPTION” is a well-known and well-loved track from ATEEZ. Throughout this song, you will hear the members harmonizing with one another and showing their true vocal range. The falsettos are angelic, and the runs are smooth, transitioning seamlessly to the next note. The rappers’ raps fit the song's overall angsty concept and tone. Their flow matches the song's beat, and while rapping, they maintain a more emotional tone. All of this comes together to create what many believe to be a masterpiece of a track. It’s an amazing song that will always be a favorite for many of us.
THE WORLD EP. 1: MOVEMENT - “Cyberpunk”
On July 29, 2022, ATEEZ released their album THE WORLD EP. 1: MOVEMENT—a striking album that not only rocked our worlds but also kept us all on the edges of our seats. It’s an album home to iconic tracks like “Guerrilla,” “The Ring,” and “Sector 1,” and their well-known track “Cyberpunk” resonated with us all. Keeping to the name, “Cyberpunk” is an electro track with a cyberpunk theme and sound. Throughout the song, the members captivate listeners with their commanding vocals. You can hear the vocal members doing falsetto runs, the rappers hitting the beat right on the mark with a bold tone, and the members' harmonies blend so well that it sounds like one voice. “Cyberpunk” is a track that many love to hear live. This song, performed in front of an audience, has everyone on their feet, screaming and singing along. It’s a fun song that truly stood out to all of us.
SPIN OFF: FROM THE WITNESS - “HALAZIA”
On December 30, 2022, ATEEZ released their five-song EP SPIN OFF: FROM THE WITNESS. A beautiful EP with a song that changed our lives for the best. “HALAZIA” is the title track for that EP, and describing this song as anything other than beautiful would be a crime. “HALAZIA” is a dramatic track with theatrics, captivating vocals, and jaw-dropping visuals. Throughout the song, you can hear the members belting strong notes in one breath, hitting falsetto notes and lower bass tones with no problem, and the angst you can hear from the members' raps will have you hooked from the first listen. This is another song that, once heard live, you can’t hear it any other way. At the end of the song, there is a bass-induced instrumental that will rattle your chest and have you on your feet, screaming and dancing along. “HALAZIA” is a favorite for many and truly shows the range of music that the ATEEZ members can perform, while also giving us a blast to the past.
