Introducing Siyeon of Dreamcatcher’s New Band: ChRocktikal

It’s been quite a ride following along with the activities of the members of Dreamcatcher. With new creative directions we get a whole different slew of musical genres and projects, which is always a ton of fun. There was quite a bit of anticipation for Siyeon’s new direction in the form of a co-ed rock band ChRocktikal, also styled as CRTK. We all know just how vocally talented Siyeon is, so fronting a rock band is an absolutely fitting direction for her. We are champions of female-fronted rock bands in this house.
ChRocktikal consists of vocalist and producer Siyeon, guitarist and producer Lee Wonseok, bassist Lee Junyoung and drummer Je Gwanwoo. Junyoung is a former member of the band IZ, and Wonseok participated in works as a guitarist with Super Junior’s Ryeowook and BOL4. The project has been teased as early as July 2025, with the official reveal coming last month.
The title track “PEACE” is our introduction to the type of rock we’ll get from the group, which I would classify as kind of a classic heavy alternative rock. We don’t have any designated screaming or growling, so no dabbling into metal, but it’s definitely heavier than pop punk. The Korean scene has very few known rock bands internationally, so it’d be pretty cool if this shift for Siyeon could help bring more attention to that scene. We already know the vocals are going to be great, but I also love how much attention the lead guitarist gets with his own solo in the track. The song is fun, hard-hitting, and classic—a great mix for a debut.
I also like that the music video is pretty simple, fitting with the usual theme you’d expect from a band music video. Sure, sometimes it’s nice to have a super intricate, story-driven visual narrative for a track, but that style doesn’t fit the classic feel of a rock band, you know? It helps move away from Siyeon’s identity as a K-Pop idol, ushering in a new era as a band frontwoman.
So far we’re loving this new direction and the introduction to ChRocktikal. Check out the music video for “PEACE” below!
