Joohoney Fights His Inhibitions With Second Album 光 (INSANITY)
JOOHONEY is no stranger to making an impact. It’s been two years since his first mini-album, LIGHTS, and his newest release is further proof that he is a master of his craft. Released on January 5, 2026, Joohoney’s second album, 光 (INSANITY), is an explosive way to kick off the new year.
Building Confidence Through Vulnerability
光 (INSANITY) is an immersive experience bringing the listener along with Joohoney through a whirlwind of emotions. The pre-release single “Push” features Joohoney’s labelmate Rei of IVE and portrays a new outlook on feelings of anger, anxiety, and detachment. Rei’s sultry vocals complement the softness of the track and blend well when her and Joohoney harmonize.
The video’s visuals are apocalyptic and enticing. The unbalanced relationship that Joohoney and Rei portray is aesthetically pleasing with spiritual imagery to enhance the dire situation they’re in. It’s a mellow track compared to the rest of the album yet lyrically sets the tone for what’s to come.
When “STING” was first announced, I knew it would be nothing short of a banger. To top it all off, the inclusion of Muhammad Ali’s iconic saying “I’m gonna float like a butterfly and sting like a bee” in the beginning of the song immediately lets you know that Joohoney isn’t holding back. The silvery flute in the chorus effortlessly blends with Joohoney’s hard-hitting raps and further solidifies the message of being yourself even when others try to tear you down. “STING” merges themes of madness and passion, to become a triumphant tune of unapologetic individuality.
TRACKLIST:

“STING (Feat. Muhammad Ali) “(title track)
“Push (Feat. REI (IVE))”
“Bite”
“Touch the sky (Feat. Tiger JK)”
“NO BRAIN NO PAIN”
As the first track on the album, “Gwang” pulls you in with its catchy, head-bopping beat. Joohoney’s unique flow shines as he sheds old beliefs and negative mindsets to further evolve into a new person. It directly leads into “Fear,” an electronic hip-hop ode to rising above your insecurities. The album revolves around never backing down from a fight, and “Bite” draws on the boxing concept that “STING” began. Joohoney raps words of encouragement, support, and determination to keep following your dreams. The simple beat allows Joohoney’s rapping to shine as his cadence is sharper and direct.
The journey towards unlimited self-confidence and reassurance reaches its peak with “Touch the sky.” Featuring legendary rapper Tiger JK, “Touch the sky” is a fierce and earnest anthem. It’s ambitious and inspires the listener to be the best version of themselves. Joohoney further showcases his versatility on the last song, “NO BRAIN NO PAIN,” a punchy rock track that gives a satisfying ending to the album. He acknowledges the past versions of himself that were doubtful, and strives to make a change in his life.
光 (INSANITY) is a powerful expansion in Joohoney’s discography that shows how important it is to stay true to your character even if others disagree. It’s authentic and proves just how far Joohoney has come in establishing his place in the industry. It’s a great listen and the perfect vibe to start 2026.
