Why talk about one masterpiece when you can talk about so many more? We are back with part seven to talk about some songs considered masterpieces, among many others. So, let’s take it back and talk about those iconic tracks.
ENHYPEN - “Fatal Trouble”
On May 13, 2024, ENHYPEN released one of the group's standout EPs, DARK MOON SPECIAL ALBUM <MEMORABILIA>. A beautiful album with six beautiful songs, DARK MOON SPECIAL ALBUM <MEMORABILIA> has songs that resonate with every listener. With tracks like “CRIMINAL LOVE,” “Lucifer,” “One In A Billion,” and many more, listeners are drawn into the album with each song that plays. One track that has resonated with many fans is their track “Fatal Trouble.” If angst and heartbreak could be personified, they would take the form of this song. “Fatal Trouble” is a haunting ballad that showcases the emotion and vocal skill of the members. Throughout the song, the members layer vocal runs, close harmonies, and powerful belts that build toward an emotionally charged climax. The choreography is filled with yearning, and as the members drop to their knees and reach out with their arms, viewers can see the story told through their moves. “Fatal Trouble” is an amazing track that, when performed, fans go wild.
SEVENTEEN - “Don’t Listen In Secret”
On December 5, 2019, the kings of synchronization, SEVENTEEN, released their iconic album Going Seventeen. A well-known album with eight songs, Going Seventeen is stacked, with songs ranging from upbeat dance tracks to smooth ballads. With tracks like “BOOMBOOM,” “Fast Pace,” and “Highlight,” for example, this album is packed to the brim with unforgettable songs. One song that resonated with many is the Vocal Unit track, “Don’t Listen In Secret.” The Vocal Unit — Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, DK, and Seungkwan — are all powerhouse vocalists, and in this song, the members deliver soaring, layered vocal performances with rich, resonant harmonies. Throughout the song, listeners can hear all of the workings of a ballad. A song about love, with a beautiful piano accompaniment and smooth vocals that, as the song progresses, increase in volume and range. “Don’t Listen In Secret” is a beautiful song that will always stand the test of time.
fromis_9 - “FUN!”
On June 4, 2019, the upbeat girl group fromis_9 released their energetic EP, FUN FACTORY - Single. With just three songs, each track maintains the same buoyant energy. The title track, “FUN!,” is a lighthearted track built on a bouncy, synth-driven beat, bright stacked vocals, and a hook-laden call-and-response structure. From the very beginning, the members draw listeners in with the adorable opening: “Come on girls, get on the floor. Fromis get set ready, show!” Listeners can’t help but get excited. Throughout the song, the girls do a phenomenal job of keeping the energy high and making this a joyous experience for all listeners. From this song, we were given a video that, to this day, makes the rounds on social media of the girls singing the song as the camera pans through the room. The bright colors, smiles, and high energy are felt through the screens, and viewers can’t help but smile along.
